Is it worth it?

    I have two questions:

Should I take Imoen when I get to Spellhold? Normally, I don't, because I already have a great thief (PC), and my magic is covered (Kelsey, Edwin). Is she really worth wasting one of my party members? I don't like her, her complaints, and her lack of skills.

Also, is it worth it until Chapter 6 to do all of the quests from Chapter 2? Because I don't take Imoen, I don't need her to get experience, so I do most of the quests beforehand (I leave stuff like Kangaxx, the Roguestone Lich, etc for Ch. 6). Obviously, if I took Sola, I would wait on a few, but since I don't take her or Imoen, should I wait?

You just provided the answer yourself. She's no worthy addition to your party (imo) and leaving her there doesn't alter the storyline anyway.

You don't have to take Immy in all of your parties. She may be your sister, but she's still an NPC like any other, and as such not of use in every single party or situation. And if it really bothers you to think that you're leaving her behind, just RP it:

You came to rescue your sister because she couldn't take care of herself, and you don't want her in any more danger. So you keep her out of the fighting and just let her tag along. She's not a part of your party, and not visible within the game, but pretend she's there and just hides any time there's trouble. It's Bioware's fault for not allowing a tag-along in this situation, but I'll be damned if I'll let them force my hand. :p

And no, it's not "worth it" to wait until Chapter 6 to do quests; there are no additional benefits for waiting, so you might as well just do it all now and Chapters 3-7 can just follow the plotline for the most part. The only reason to let some wait is if you need someone from the later chapters.

Right-o! I'll continue on my merry way, with Immy tagging along, but not fighting (or speaking, for that matter :p ).

Thanks for the quick advice... Onward!

No, he means Role Play it... pretend you brought her alone with the promise to stay out of action, using her skills to stay hidden.

That section sums it up pretty well, and by RP I mean roleplay/pretend. (This is a roleplaying game, remember? ;) ) Dismiss Imoen, curse Bioware for forcing you do that, and know that you would have done it in the different way you thought up if you had the option within the game.

But...I think different, I allow her to join so that she will be safe with me. I would hate not be able to help her when she needs me. Plus she is a good enough mage. I RP a lot, she is my only childhood-friend, and my sibling, so there is no way I will leave her behind. Sorta deep connection. :)

But I agree about your concern, and your RPing, to 'keep her at the back'

I always took her with me instead of Edwin and my parties were never weak, I did manage to beat the fully-modded game twice! :p

When I play with a party I think like Silverstar.
I just can't leave Imoen out of my party.

But when I am soloing,I (am forced to) think it like Felinoid.
I rescue her from the Asylum but then leave her to go at the Copper Coronet.I know that she will be safe there, since there is also Minsc and the other guys who can take care of her :p

Anyway since you have already Edwin and Kelsey I understand that you don't need another mage.
So role play it like Felinoid said...
