  2. No, he's supposed to show up again in the sequel like Tyranthraxus.

Warning! This sorta has spoilers to the endings of not only this game, but the Gold Box series that preceded this game.

Pelendralaar is a dracolitch. No attempt to destroy his phylactery is made in this game.
Shouldn't he be coming back unless the heroes find his phylactery and destroy it?
Tyranthraxus (and I can't believe I still remember how to spell that without looking it up from using the Parlay command in Curse of the Azure Bonds while wandering Myth Drannor in that game to avoid pointless fights when my level was already maxed, considering I got the game in 1990) survived having the Pool of Radiance dissipated by the Gauntlets of Moander several times.

So, was Ubisoft intending to have Pelendralaar come back in the sequel the way Thranthraxus did because of this oversight of not hunting down his phylactery? There are a couple of weaker litchs in the game that you DO find the phylacteries for, so this seems rather inexcusable unless it is supposed to be a sequel hook similar to how Tyranthraxus was sucked into the Pool in the original Gold Box Pool of Radiance, and you supposedly defeat him by having the Amulet of Lathander when you confront him the second time.

Then again Baldur's Gate II made a similar blunder by having you fight several litches without destroying their phylacteries.
