Is there an inventory pause patch?

Is there a patch or console command (ie something do do with the set variable that I saw mentioned in one console FAQ, but I havn't found a list of variables) to allow somebody to pause the game on the inventory screen in single player mode like you can in the multiplayer mode?

Alternately, is there a patch or console command that I can use to get rid of the chat window that appears when I initiate a dialog with a NPC in multiplayer mode? Obviously I'm thinking of playing solo in multiplayer mode, and the chat isn't needed.

One other solution would be a patch to give EVERYBODY two quick weapon slots. 90% of the time when I'm trying to access the inventory screen in combat is because I'm trying to swap weapons/shields. This is why I want to pause it, since some characters only have one quick weapon slot, which makes switching from a bow or crossbow to a sword difficult; Yet I still want to pelt the enemy from afar before slicing him to ribbons, rather than recklessly charging him with swords drawn. It still leaves the shield issue, though it does make two handed weapons more tempting since I won't be able to use a shield.

I've been unable to find any of these on SP, and I tried using Google, though I might not be using the correct terms.

A good rule of thumb for things like that is that if they're not listed on SP, they don't exist. And, to my knowledge, none of the things you want do.

Most of the useful console commands are listed in Simpson's walkthrough you can download from SP.

There's no patch for this, but try starting your game as a multiplayer game. This will let you remain paused on the Inventory screen. If you want to play the saves you already have, you'll have to copy them from the "save" to the "mpsave" folder in the BG directory. As for everyone having 2 quick slots, if you can buy a copy of TotSC, that gives everyone at least two slots, with the exception of M/Ts and FMTs.

[EDIT] - have just noticed you had mentioned the multiplayer mode already. Oh well ... I'm an idiot!

    bg1tutu.

Yes, multiplayer mode with singlechar works as long as you can stand the chatwindow, and the anoyance of a slight "hold" period after you pressed pause before you can press again (anoys me alot).

the TofSC expantion fixes so that most classes recive another weaponslot. Example wizard had only one slot in standard BG1, change to 2 slots in TostSC. Certain Multi-classes unfortunatelly have to many abilities to fit a second weaponslot (notably multiclass combinations with thief and spellcasters.) No way around that, refer to my first ansver.

A fairly comprehensive - and often updated - list of IE modding-related stuff can be found at http://modlist.pocketplane.net :)

As far as truly unique mods go (such as the poster was seeking), they're all listed on SP. And for all the games covered on SP barring BG2, pretty much all mods worth mentioning are listed on SP. For BG2, a barrage of newer NPC mods aren't listed and you can find them at that link, but that's about it as far as worthwhile mods are concerned. And considering this isn't the BG2 forum, neither are any of the things the original poster requested available on the link provided, there's not really much point in giving it out here.

It doesn't really seem like that good a rule of thumb when there are a multitude of exceptions.

And in response to the original poster, the only way to play BG1 with a pausing inventory is to play it using the BG2 engine, which BG1Tutu allows.

[IMG] Boy, some people like to get hung up on my words... It'd be better if you'd read them twice instead.

I'll bold the important bit of my statement "A good rule of thumb for things like that is that if they're not listed on SP, they don't exist."

"Things like that" being truly unique mods the topic creator was after. And there are no exceptions to this. Any truly unique mod will find its way to SP. And the mods SlickRCBD was after would be truly unique, if they'd exist. Which they don't. Now I suggest you and Andyr rather go do some modding, it'd be more productive than engaging in pissing contests of this sort. As I've said numerous times before, use PM if you've got something personal to tell me, which (again) seems to be the case here. I could have explained this stuff to you in private.
