Is there any defence against stun?

    [​IMG] Is there any spell that can defend against stunning effects (such as Symbol: Stun). Free Action doesn't seem to. I guess that a specific Spell Immunity would, but anything else?

    Does priest spell Chaotic Commands work? If I recall correctly there are also some weapons that give immunity to stun.

    Chaotic Commands doesn't work; I'm not sure about other spells, but I don't think so.

    Sword of Avoreen (sp?) protects against stun; don't know about any other items.

    I'm not sure if saving throws offer protection here. If so, there are a number of spells which will help.

    I am pretty sure that chaotic command works against stun effects. They work against mindflayers and in my current game my character has never been stunned by any symbols while being under the influence of chaotic commands but many times while not being it.

    C.C. protects from psionic blast, which I think is where the Mind Flayer's stun comes from. It wouldn't protect from other forms of stun, though. Spell description from Gamebanshee here

    The song of a highlevel Skald will protect your party from Stun as well. Its no spell, of course, and because of that a little off topic.

    Chaotic Commands surely works. I used it countless of times, and not only against mind flayers. Try it yourself first.
    From you link, it said "also", not "only".

    Back to all:
    Minsc's berserk rage protects against stun effect as well. So I believe barbarian rage can do it too.

    The Ring of Free Action protects you from the mindflayer's stun.

    One way to protect against Power Word:Stun is to get your hitpoints over 90. Also, anything that makes you immune to conjuration will make you immune to the stun spells (Not the Mindflayers, though).

    @ Skywind - I realize that C.C. does more than protect against psionic blast; that's why I posted the link - to show what it does protect against. My reference to psionic blast was only in response to joaqin's comment about mind flayers. However, you say that C.C. does protect against normal stun; to be honest, I never considered that it might offer protection given the spell description (not that the spell descriptions are necessarily 100% accurate). I also use C.C. often, but I just assumed that, rather than being protected from stun, I just wasn't encountering it in the first place. I'll have to try it next time I run into problems; thanks for the correction.

    Oh! I must have mistaken what you meant. :o Anyway, I know for sure that CC protect against magical stun, but not very sure about normal stun(do you mean something like monk's stunning blow etc?). The other thing I'm sure is that CC have not fail me yet. :)
