I played around with Near Infinity a couple of years ago, making items for BGII. I've got the bug to make a few weapons/items (mostly "flavor" items, nothing overpowered), but I can't recall how well NI works with IWDII. Has anyone else been using it?

Also, is it possible to "drop" the items into the game maps using NI, or can I only place them into character inventories?

    Thanks!

Acrux, the best way to make new items is by using DLTCEP. NI is a good suppliment, but DLTCEP is vastly superior for item creation.

You can use NI to put new items into various places, such as containers (i.e. kegs, chests, or any of the other hidey-holes where you find stuff) or into stores, etc.

Hmm...I'm not familiar with DLTCEP -- I'll have to check it out. Thanks.

Wow -- DLTCEP may be much better for modding and item creation, but I can't figure out how to use it and I usability test software for a living! ;)

That was what made me stick to NI as well, and i was even used to the IEEP program that DLTCEP was based on...

    Really? Huh.

I found it very easy to figure out, at least for item creation.

What I do is just load up an item that relatively close to what I want to make, save it with a different name, then start editting. I've made literally dozens of new items.
