[IMG] Well, if you've been following my writings on the front page you've been expecting it, but still, it probably came as a surprise.

    What we can drool over:

-uses the Infinity Engine (so no 3D)
-all the improvements from BG2 & ToB
-all kits & classes from BG2, plus Mercenary, Giant Killer and the Dreadmaster of Bane as new kits (among others)
-new sub-races including the Drow and Tiefling
-over 50 new spells such as Executioner's Eyes and Aegis, bringing the total to over 300 spells
    -new items, weapons, monsters
-projected release date May 28, 2002

Check the front page of SP for more details.

  2. Am I the only one who thinks they're stringing this out a bit?

Not just IWD, but the whole, I don't know, Infinity engine genre?

Eg. the other day, my friend said he killed Kangaxx. He was all excited and leaping everywhere, but it had no effect on me. I found myself thinking "Kangaxx.Hooray."

    ANYWAY, IWD2! Hooray! :D

Looking forward to paladinning some more in new locations! SMITE IT BABY!

[IMG] I personally love the Infinity Engine...It's fairly versatile, gives lush scenery and graphics, and tends to be great for storytelling! As long as IWD2 doesn't require hundreds of little gopher trips like BG2 (my biggest pet peeve) I am excited to see it!

[IMG] Sweet! I'm definitly looking foward to IWD II. The handful of screens from the game look amazing.

I agree with Sir Bel, hopefuly there won't be lots of 'gopher' quests, as he put it. I would like to believe that the developers will stick with the same style as the first. A very refreshing game after the major questing in Bg and SoA.

DROW! DROW DROW DROW DROW rule supreme.
I think that could be the best game yet!
IWD, for me, had the best atmosphere and great music; if only it had been bigger.
    IWD2? that will rock!!!!!!!!!

    Looks awesome.

That first screen shot at gamespot looks cool, finally get to fight two (or more?) dragons at once (even if they look young). And DRIDERS (an enemy I found strangly absent in the drow areas of SoA and ToB).

Plus with drow and tieflings I can make a party with Viconia AND Annah in it! Oh joy :)

[IMG] Yes, very exciting. I was afraid it was lights out for any more of Infinity RPGs. I love these games, more so than the 3-D types. Great visuals, music, voice acting and IWD I thought had an acceptable story all things considered. Good to have another game to look forward to.

[IMG] This is what I'm talking about when I say companies shouldn't jump the gun on annoucing games. Wait until they've got some goodies to show, and a release date not too far off. It looks like IWD 2 is creating awareness just fine.

As well, IWD2 will most likely add some credence to the "all-shorty" party with the sub-races.

Halflings and Dwarves and Gnomes, Oh My! Heh.
