Well, after all, I AM evil -- Voltaire, neutral evil male half-elven bard. I travel with what some might call "bad company": Viconia (my lover), Korgan (my bodyguard), Edwin (my very own personal Red Wizard), Yoshimo (doesn't quite seem to fit in with the rest, perhaps I'll let him go once we've rescued my half-sister -- and then I'll continue to attempt corrupting her, lol), and Koveras (a sort of Biff the Understudy until I raise my dead half-brother Sarevok).

ANYway, unlike so many before me, I decided to strike a deal with a certain over-rated Red Dragon, and pickpocketed a deed that he wanted. I even went back to double-cross him after returning the deed! But now I've missed out on killing his mage Conster, and upon killing him and returning to Garren, Garren only continues to ask me to try and rescue his already dead child! (I previously told him of his child's death before pickpocketing his deed, but then he only got angry and stormed off before I could take it -- so I cast a Reload spell instead....)

Can someone tell me if it is possible to demand the child's release, kill Conster, but then still agree with Firkraag to steal the deed for him, and then come back and kill Firkraag anyway? <BWEG>

You pickpocketed the deed. That's what caused the bug.

No, yes, no, yes (in that order). You can ambush Conster while he's standing with Firk, but you've totally given up on the kid's release.

Well that's just plain weird, lol. So the only way to get the deed, then, without causing a bug, is if I just kill him outright, since if I talk to him at all, he will just storm out because I got his kid killed.

And do I unbderstand you right that I can just kill Conster right in front of Firkraag before talking to him, but then that means the kid dies automatically...?

    Maybe you should try this.

I can't understand what seems to be the problem. I just enter the lair, talk to Firkraag, Conster leaves, I tell Firkraag I'm going to go kill Conster and he says it's okay. I go and kill him, rescue the child, then I go back to deal with Firkraag. Although I have always killed him. Maybe this time I'll do his quests first.

And I can't understand why you two can't read my post first before trying to reply. ;)

I am trying to resolve the Windspear Hills quest "the evil way," but without CLUA, cheese, or Shadowkeeper. If I talk to Firkraag, I never get an option to kill Conster for him, certainly not after agreeing to steal the deed for him -- the kid dies as soon as I go back to the level with the cells. Also, Conster instantly disappears once I agree to steal the deed, and is never seen again. So, the only way I get to fght Conster at all is if I do the quest "the good way" by fighting him to release the child.

If I go to Garren after agreeing to steal the deed, I have to get it before taling to him, or else the only options I get all involve telling him his child is dead, and then he disappears, never to be seen again. And even after giving the deed to Firkraag, and then deciding to kill him anyway, if I go back to Garren (I have only picpocketed the deed without talking to him, have not tried force-attacking and killing him yet), he then just begs me to get his kid back!

Oh, well, I suppose I can just pass up the experience for Conster, and then just backstab Garren -- after all, I am evil....
