Ivory Titans

Falling towards the hard green earth it shrieks as it plunges downwards without hope. It cowers on the ground, friendless and tiny, in a world utterly alien to its image of paradise. Slowly it grows accustomed to the new environment as rigid and unyielding as the landscape is. It gradually coalesces with its cold neighbors, yet longs for the freedom of flight once again. It shivers underneath a tall impenetrable wall of green. It begs for warmth and freedom, and becomes angry; the hostile and uncaring earth disgusts it.

When hope seems dimmest a new wind surges from the north destroying the invincibility of the formerly foreboding wall. Small probing tendrils explore the opened territory. It shrinks from them at first, wary of a trap. But a particularly speedy ray takes it in a firm hold. It rejoices, warmth! It lays still and content, soaking up the inexhaustible energy. It basks in this euphoria until it feels its worries melting away, an airy lightness fills it and it begins to rise. Had it let its guard down leaving itself at the mercy of the cruel earth? Yes. Would it pay a price?

It feels a great relief and joy to be up in the great winds again where it is free. From any bonds, the feeling of despair upon the ground, free to be whatever it wishes. As it rises it sees its brethren also making a sky-bound journey. It waves a whispery tentacle at its fellows in silent exultation. Slowly as it drifts ever higher its brethren pack about closer and closer. It and its siblings join in a loving embrace as they reach the upper heights of the world. They create an intense dazzling pure white light. The light of life. The ground dwellers look up in awe at the majesty of the ivory titans.

 

I didn't understand a bit, but it was pretty good.

 

That was a great story, G, and unless I'm mistaken Eze, it was about a tree - am I correct?

First Stanza; the seed falls to the ground, feeling helpless and cold.

Second Stanza; The seed embraces sunshine, and finds comfort in it, and decides to grow.

Third Stanza; It grows and has grown, feels really great, basking it it's glory. It's an Ivory Titan.
