Is it possible to import IWD sprites to BG2? I'm re-playing the game with a barbarian and I'd like to change my appearance to an Icewind Dale barbarian. I have both of the games and shadowkeeper installed.

That's not exactly what I'm looking for, but thanks anyway. I noticed thru Shadow Keeper that BG 2 has some IWD creatures on it so this shouldn't be impossible. I can even find the one I want with Infinity Explorer and extract the .cre file, but I have no idea what to do with it. :(

[IMG] Ahma, it's not the .cre file you need to get the Barbarian sprite, it's the .bam files you need for animation!

Oh, right you are. I managed to find the .bif file the animations are in. Where should I dump it so that BG2 recognizes it? Or is there a need for something more?

You might need to update some .IDS files; I don't remember offhand if the IWD Barbarian is already allowed for in them (some animations are, others involve overwriting one of the current ones).

I added the animation names to the .ids files so they show up on Shadow Keeper, but I'm not sure where to drop the .bifs. I checked the game resources with Infinity Explorer, but the animations don't show up on the .bam list. What gives?

Don't touch the .BIFs. You'd need to extract the files individually from them and dump them in Override, as opposed to the .BIF itself. To be honest if you are unfamiliar with game modding it is probably more trouble than it is worth, and you are likely to mess stuff up if you are inexperienced. If you want the animation, IIRC it is present in the Neverending Journey mod from www.blackwyrmlair.net so try that.

In addition, Shadowkeeper can have problems with mod content so it is possible looking with that is giving you an inaccurate picture of what you have.

The .bam files are now in the override folder and I added the names of the animations to the animate.ids file, but the game still crashes while loading a save. I can find the .bams with Near Infinity in the override folder. This is trickier than I thought.

On a side note I found a nice program called IWD Animation Importer. I just wish it would had had the barbarians in it too.
