    [IMG] hey guys!!!

just finished IWD. belheit is sure is a damn demon. and i'm thinking of buying the expansion(HOW).

but i have a question. no matter how many times i repeat it, i still end up with one or more of my characters dead after the fight with belheit. i mean my IWD are really dead, some have 0(zero) and some even have negative hitpoints.

the reason i'm asking this is i'm planning to use my IWD characters in HOW. but with almost half of my characters dead i don't know what to do.

    any input will be appreciated

    [IMG] You could
    a) export your characters just before the final battle and start a new expansion game only when you get HoW
    b) install HoW and go to the new areas from one of your previous savegames

That's your best bet if you don't want to start with half a dead party in HoW. Not to mention that you lose all the items the dead ones drop too...

Here's a quote from the manual:

"If you have beaten the original game, Icewind Dale saves the states of your characters after the final battle and allows these characters to be imported into the expansion. (Any characters that died in the final battle will be restored to life, so if any of your characters didn't make it, don't worry about having to fight the final battle over again until you get it right)"

[IMG] That was copy/pasted from the FAQ and is not correct, at least it wasn't last time I checked. Marketing ploy if you will.
When I played the beta and started from my final save game, everyone was as dead as they were back then, and lost all their items too.

I mailed BIS back then and they said that, in short, it's just the way it is and that it can't be changed. Maybe they fixed it for the final release, but I doubt it.

Same as the final save in BG... It's supposed to teleport you to Ulgoth's Beard but it never does. At least not for anyone I've talked to.
