Jaheira Romance completely screwed

Hi! First of all, sorry for posting a topic that is probably discussed a lot in here, but I wasn't able to find any help specific to my problem.

I have BG2 with ToB installed, still on the SoA part at the moment. I had to re-install the game and kept the saves from the old game, but the second time around, I installed the G3 Tweak Pack.

Something somewhere went terribly wrong and I lost the Jaheira romance (as in, she's not talking to me when she should - I tried all the conditions etc). I tried a bunch of console commands to no obvious effect and now I feel I screwed it up even more.

So, is there a console command I could use, to completely reset the romance?

I want to be able to erase all the wrongs I may have done and start over. Then possibly speed things up (running out the timer) with a different command, so I don't have to wait so long to get back to where I left off.

Sorry if this is a n00b request, but I'm really lost - most sites/forums offer only bits of information, or too much information about scripts and stuff that I don't really understand.

Download Shadowkeeper.

Create a named save (not a quick save or auto save).

Open your saved game in SK

Go to Global Variables tab

Look for JAHEIRAROMANCEACTIVE

If it is set to "3" change it to"1"

Depending on what you did to screw the romance this may or may not help.

Also, make sure your game is patched.

(Yes, I know I have a rubbish sense of humour but I'm not wasted at the moment )

 

Got ShadowKeeper and the game is patched. JAHEIRAROMANCEACTIVE is already at 1.

Looking at this Jaheira walkthrough I can see I got up to point 14. n without a glitch:

I told them to take me for hostage instead, followed by a fight where I killed them. However, no one showed up afterwards (this 'Meronia' person?) and Jaheira never left my party and hasn't spoken to me since (tried sleeping in different locations, waiting etc).

Any other ideas how I could jump-start the next event?

Indeed, and whining about it on some forum Like I said, I bet that the Jaheira romance is the most over-discussed BG2-related topic. But I also heard that it's a very interesting romance and stretches all the way through ToB. It would be a shame to kill it so early on. Especially since I didn't do anything wrong in game AFAIK (just re-installing BG2 and choosing different tweak pack).

 

Good info! I have actually not done Xzar's quest yet... Gonna give it a shot and report back if anything changed.

EDIT: Seems like doing Xzar's quest moved things forward. Shortly after, Meronia came to take Jaheira away. During next rest, Jaheira came back and started being more involved in party dialogue (did the whole Druid Grove quest meanwhile and Jaheira was silent throughout, which was weird).

I have yet to see any Romance dialogue, but for now it looks like it got fixed.

I find it Ironic to say the least, that in order to romance the Harper, you have to cross her superiors.

 

That's not ironic, it's more cliched if you think about it from a teen-movie point of view

 

Done and done! Finally finished this long quest - thanks for the help!

One issue though: I got the Harper Pin, a final gift from 'Terminsel' (), but it's unequippable! As in, it's got that red background (like, say, heavy armour would have in a mage's inventory) and cannot be placed on Jaheira's neck (I assume it goes in the neck slot?).

Any ideas why it's like that?

EDIT: Helped myself there Turns this was where the true conflict was - Jaheira was modded to Neutral Good, and so was the pin (G3 Pack, see first post). In later reinstall, it somehow kept the modded pin, but Jaheira reversed back to her vanilla alignment. A bit of ShadowKeeper tweakage and everything is all right

 

Yeah, modding Jaheira in any way seems to make the pin useless. I have often modded her to a single class Druid and had the same effect.

Oh by all the merciful gods, Splunge. I read that while distracted and now my brain is doing all sorts of weird things...

For future reference there can be three variables set by the console - no extra programme necessary to completely reset the romance.

JaheiraRomanceActive to 1
LoveTalk,"LOCALS" to 1 (I believe it's 1, will test when I can convince other half to grab the disks.) to set a Local variable you need to have the character (Jaheira here) selected and the cursor over her avatar or portrait (I usually go for portrait, bigger area)

Jaheira is notorious for bugs. I've never really encountered one, I think once long ago when I was aiming for Aerie so I ignored it. I think it's caused by some deep seated loyalty to Beren that makes her reluctant to be such a husband forgetting hussy.
