This story is starting to heat up on the conservative side of the blogosphere Apparantly there was a listserv that many journalists subscribed to; that during the 2008 election they actually crafted strategy on what to cover and what not to cover, and how to help silence critics.

The list was shut down in June 2010 after leaks exposing member Dave Wiegel's posts led him to resign from the Washington Post.

I'm not quite sure how much credibility I am giving to the things being said as I haven't seen anyone actually post a dump of the list online yet. I figure that is just a matter of time. However, the things being quoted are quite troubling.

Link to the Daily Caller article (which is clearly a very conservative site)

Actually, I stand corrected. At the above site they are posting dumps of the list broken down into sections of the discussion.

I'm not sure what this proves, that some jounrnalists are "liberal?" Big deal, you think there are conservative journalists as well, Snook? This is a non-issue, in my opinion. We live in an age where there is so much biased in the media, both liberal and conservative, that no one cares anymore. Except conservative journalists. Conservative journalists complaining about the "media being biased?" :hmm: :hmm:

Well we will have to wait and see how this plays out. The way it is being painted is that members of the media pooled their resources to ensure that the guy they wanted to get elected would get elected. They did this by manipulating the coverage and only reporting on things that would further their agenda and they did it all behind the curtain. This is far different from a Rush or Hannity who is in front of the camera and is clearly giving their opinion as opposed to reporting the news.

I'm not saying that this has been proven and it could just be the paranoid fantasies of some right wingers. I'm just giving everyone a heads up that if you hear the term Journolist scandal you have an idea as to what they are talking about. Just like the New Black Panther voter intimidation issue took a long time to percolate before the MSM would report on it, I'm sure there will be many more revelations before the majority of the people find out about this.

The FOX News Network, Washington Times, New York Post, are all conservative outlets for the conservative agenda and conservative and Tea Party candidates. I fail to see the difference. Also, as a former editor, the writing staff doesn't dictate the content, since that is set by editor, who generally answers directly to the owner(s). In my case it was members of the college faculty. But the rank-and-file writers/reporters don't usually set the content.

Chandos, I'd say there's even a difference between supporting a candidate and killing stories, or inventing stories to distract from the issue as one of them suggested, to keep a candidate out of trouble. The difference is that FOX still reported on the brew-ha-ha within the Tea Party, and on Sherrod's ousting and Breitbart's role in it, etc.

That being said, it does sound like the articles in question were blog and opinion pieces, though the 'not covering' other items could have been anywhere. I want more details before I write this off as anything other than proof of how far liberals will go.

Yes, after FOX drove the story about Sherrod's "alledged racism" for months. Do you think they would fess up, NOG? I appreciate you trying to take the middle-ground on this, NOG, but FOX drove the story, and then turned around and played it against the Administration after it took the bait on this one. Really.

Part of Obama's problem atm is that he let them drive him into this god awful mistake. As Keith Olbermann chided Obama yesterday, "He's so busy trying to keep his job, that he has forgotten to do his job."

    I especially liked this quote:

Nice to finally figure out where that particular tactic of the left came from. If you can't beat them on substance, just cry "racism!"

It's unfortunate what happened to her, and I don't agree with the tactics used, but I also can't find myself to be outraged by it since I consider it turning the tables, as it were.

    /thread derail over.

Gentlemen, can you please keep this thread on topic.

Can I get a mod to move all of these posts to the USDA thread?

Sorry, Snook, didn't mean to burn all over your thread with the Sherrod issue. I'll keep it on that thread.
