[IMG] Hey everyone! Just started a new game of BG1!

Can anyone help me, because I forgot how to do the x-y co-ordinates to get the ring by the FAI n stuff!

Also, I heard that there is a patch that can make the bg2 engine work on bg1! Can anyone help with that?

    Thanks in advance!!

i thought it was the "x" key to get the locations, i could be wrong though as i have not used it for a long time.

It's either X or L, though it can be mapped to other keys in the config program.

And I highly recommend the EasyTutu program that Shaitan linked. It leaves your BG1 and BG2 installations untouched, meaning that you can still play BG2 or vanilla BG1 when you want to.

Just run along the bottom of the screen, it is at the base of a tree about half way accross, just move your mouse slowly till you find it. Easy Tutu is definitely the way to go.

Hit X and it will give the coordinates of what your cursor is on. The ring at the FAI is near a rock in front of an evergreen tree.

I'm pretty sure it is the "L" key to get the location in BG1.

Also dependent upon what version you have of BG1, the ring might not be there :)

I have 3 different copies of BG1, and with 2 of them the ring is just gonne. (naturally i only use teh set that gives me my ring!)

If you have a pure, unpatched BG version the ring is there.
If you have TotSC installed the ring is also there.
But if you play the game without TotSC and with the latest patch installed, the ring isn't there. (Just another crippling to make you spend money on the disappointing expansion)

If you don't have the expansion you can patch the game after finding the ring if you need it.

    [IMG] Thanks everyone!

Kmonster, I have the TOTSC expansion, I just haven't loaded it! And I'm around Nashkel right now, so I don't think I'll have a chance to get the ring until I get back to FAI! Ha!

    Thanks everyone!

If the ring wasn't there at your first FAI visit it won't be there after installing TotSC unless you start a new game.

I don't think I would have ever found that ring were it not for EasyTutu (and the Tab - highlight containers business) :)

You need TOTSC to find the ring.

Make it easy on yourself and get Dan Simpson's walkthrus, all the coords for nearly everything are inside.

After it wasn't there in my game, I uninstalled BG, reinstalled and reimporteted my fighter and applied the patch just after finding the ring. :flaming:

Black Isle really knew how to torment err... treat their customers right. :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:
