I want to make Kensai then Dual-Class it to a mage, but I'm really bad at duel classing so what would be a good level to dual-class to mage?

I wish you could dual-class with elves :(

Stay an Elf. Multiclassing is better, IMHO.

Multiclassing maybe better, but unless you want to mess with Shadowkeeper (SK), you can't be an elf Kensai/Mage.

Dualing either at level 9 for those lovely hitpoints or level 12 for another kai use and some attack bonuses.

13 gets you the extra half-attack. I'd dual there; there's plenty of XP to be had.

Can you reactivate your fighter levels if you dual at kensai 13 (look at the forum)?

If you only have SoA, and want to do Kensai-Mage, I suggest dual-classing right away.

Yes, you can get a lv 13 Kensai / 14 mage at most.
The only bad thing is that you cannot summon Skel Warriors, and it's a pain if you have to share exp ._.

What weapons should I specialize in?
And also do I put points in single weapon skill or something different.

Katanas to get the Celestial Fury and Dak'kons zerth blade which allows extra spells, make sure you have dual wield specialization as well.

But Staff of Magi is a good weapon also, and if you are grandmaster in staves you can be VERY deadly, along with two-handed weapon fighting. Think about it! Will your future-mage still want to dual-wield spiffy katanas or have a staff which represents godly magical prowess?

Yes, it sucks to want a weapon you can't get for most of the game. The fight to get SotM is majorly hard, so save before you do it!

Other good staves you can get early:
Staff of the Rhynn +4 - Ribald's shop
Cleric's Staff +3 - some temples and monster loot
Staff Mace +2 - off Haz's body, works like a club

Some item mods also add some very spiffy staves, check them!

Both. You don't need more than two stars in anything anyway, so you can use CF and/or DZB until you get the SotM.

I would definitely start out as a Kensai and duel to a Mage right from the start of the game (Level 9 Kensai). I would take two stars in 2 handed weapon style and as many stars as you can in staffs. This way when you do have to fight you can use your staff of Magi and you can cause some pretty good damage.

I would also not go for the ring of influence. I would go for all the rings that add spells levels, so I would make sure when you create your character that he or she has at least a Cha or 15+. You can always pick up the blade of rose and use it only when you enter a shop for buying and selling items.

Go luck and I hope my recommendation help you.

For SoA only, Kensai[9]/Mage[x] might be the best.
Unless you install the unnerfed GM tables semi-mod from EoU, taking more than ** in any weapon would be of no use.
Also, how do you intend to use him? I play my Kensai/Mage as a secondary fighter, concentrating of self buffs and then mass damaging spells.

G3 has a mod which allows you to change Katanas and Bastard Swords into two-handed weapons. So you can take Two-Handed Weapon Style***, Staff** and Katana**. Give Kensai Daggers** only after you dual, so he will be safe at the back throwing them.

By the way, at the start of the gme you are L7.
