    Quick question lads. When you talk about using a kensai/thief in BG2 do you mean a multi-class or a dual class?
    I ask because I'm going to tackle the game again and I'm going to use one, but I don't know what the crack is...

    Dual; a multi isn't possible without SK. I usually show it as "Kensai->Thief" to make it clearer, but most don't.

    The only way you can MC a kit is by using SK.
    So if you don't cheat a Kensai/Thief has to be dual classed.
    Btw it's really a lot of fun to play, just be careful at the start, low level Kensais are not very resilient (high AC really bad, have Jaheira cast Barkskin on your PC). ;)

    Varying opinions on that. Some say 9 for early dualling, but I'd go with 13 for the extra half-attack.

    The most frequent answers to that question are levels 9, 12, and 13. 9 gets you all the HPs you generate as a fighter, +3 thac0 and +3 damage, and 3 uses of Kai. Waiting till 12 nets an additional +1 thac0 and damage, and 13 nets another Kai and an additional 1/2 attack. Personally, I'd do it at 9, since a level 9 Kensai is already a great fighter, and minimize the time till I get my Kensai levels back.
