Thought I'd share a fun tactic for the tree of life fight which I had been keeping up my sleeve ever since I got Nalia and Imoen (wot Nalia AND Imoen I hear you cry??!! OK I cry please tell me in simple terms what the**** is wrong with having TWO 17th level MUs on your side???)the limited wish, and shapechaged her (it will also work with the shapechange scroll) to a mind flayer - not sure if the psionic blast worked, but after Imoen had lowered JI's defences, Nalia did her octopus impersonation and moved in to suck the SOAB's brains out - she was doing damage in the melee round, just a shame I couldn't have kept track of his INT score, but he wasn't casting too many spells later in thee fight. Worked though, and he went down on my first try at the fight. Took me 6 goes to bring down Sarevok in BG1. Irenicus is a big girls' blouse.

[IMG] Didn't it take more than one round to lower his defences? In the battle he threw a timestop and wail of banshee at me. It almost destroyed Imoen who was moving in to award him with kelben's whip. It sounds pretty easy to just lower his defences...

On the other hand I think it was an awesome way to end his life in the primary plane. First ellisime removes his immortality and then you remove his mind. great work :)

It wasn't all over after round 1 - he did manage to bump off Imoen and Minsc, but Immy (and Nalia before she got her wish) got off Ruby Ray and Breach and one of them (they both cast it) shot off Pierce Magic - it was if my memory serves me a pretty chaotic scrap - I may even be wrong in my recollection of the exact spells being cast, but I know the outcome! And once I was downstairs, Nalia got several messages indicating she was digesting brains - yum!!!!!!

Just one question. Why is that, that poor Jon doesn't have a single Lower Resist spell on him??? God, I changed Imoen to an Iron Golem and the results were a bit funny, but absolutely boring...Irenicus wasn't able to do a single point of harm at her. Hmm. I won't try that again, that's for sure.
Yeah, that Shapechange spell/scroll can be really powerful sometimes on the bosses.
