well there are two basic choices to each trial. Good or Evil, You choose the evil solution you become a chaotic evil character. If you choose the good solution you remain the same(i think) being as i was already chaotic good at the time.

If u want to remain your current alignment i recommend saveing ALOT! That way if u make the wrong choice you can go back to your saved game.

I remeber being true neutral, and i have chosen to kill the dragon, but me alignment never shifted.

'Twas the stats modification I was wondering about. If you choose good you get addition to what and vice versa

I had a rep of 20 and my alignment was chaotic good, so I chose the good path every time, I think it is a lot easier than taking the evil path. For instance (SPOILER!!):

You don't have to fight the dragon, you don't have to fight the genie (just give back the blade), you'll have to fight the beholders (because you can't accept the nymfcloak, you'll have to fight sarevok either way, it was easy and you'll lose some points on your own character which was the only thing that bothered me. (Lost 2 hitpoints permanently, well I had 146, so I could miss 2, lost XP, when I looked there wasn't changed a thing, but I also lost one point of dex. which now became 17, that wasn't cool!

As this topic is declared to be full of SPOILERs, I don't mind posting that you don't need to fight the beholders even if you are good and reject the cloak. I can't remember how I did it but I think it involved:

    - turning one charcater invisible incase he goes out of control and wanders into the beholder area.
    - casting remove fear (or something).
    - donning any helmets, weapons etc that protect against fear, confusion, charm etc
    - getting him to walk down to the tear on the left hand side (without beholders) and set off any fear traps.
    - pick up the tear (while staying out of sight of beholders).

Can't remember the deatails but I think I sent a thief in afterwards to disarm and open some treasure.

These are rewards for tests depending on path you choose:

    Fear:
good - immunity to +1 weapons and less
    evil - CON+2

    Selfishness:
    good - magic resistance +10%
    evil - AC+2

    Greed:
good - all saving throws +2
    evil - HP+15

    Pride:
good - resistances to fire, cold and electricity +20%
    evil - XP+200000 (!?)

    Wrath:
    good - WIS+1, CHR+1
    evil - STR+2

Btw, whatever I did, my alignment never changed. I was true neutral half-elf.

By the way, the Final Save wasn;t made after opening the door was it? Otherwise, choosing the evil path would be much better when you want to use your character for NVN

I'm not sure whether your alignment actually changes, but if you play a ranger/paladin and you complete a task in the evil way, you lose your class.

[IMG] I know as a chaotic good character that when i fought the dragon, my alignment definately changed and i had to revert to save game and do again. As well with the part where an innocent gets killed by the door you choose. Not sure how it affects neutral characters but definately good changes to evil if the wrong choices are made

Aye, it seems that neutrals are not affected
(how can a CN become evil, he might have done a deed fer he is either a lunatic or a madman :))
Good path would definetly be the choice fer me CG cleric
Just when I made a run with a TN kensai, i didnt notice much change and did all good, but killed the dragon. I remained true neutral, and me friends, being evil, remained evil neways.
