That's interesting. You guys must all be really rich to be able to afford brand new games all the time. I can only ever afford to buy used games.

I borrow games if someone already has the title that interests me, or I wait till prices drop. I don't buy that many, anyway. Most of what I've bought have been 10 euro discount games from a series called Classics.

I have only bought 3 games in the last two years (Neverwinter Nights with expansions, Baldur's Gate II Collectors Edition, and Baldur's Gate) and I bought them all second hand through either eBay or Trademe.

HB, just like chev pointed out, those classic series are pretty cheap, and you have a new game. The reason I don't buy much secondhand games is my distrust of people, you never know why they sold it. You don't know if the game is still working until you test it.

Ebay, Ebay, Ebay! Got to love the internet. It wasn't like I had a huge choice anyways, I was buying games not on the market anymore (BG1,BG2). I did find out that you have to read the feedback carefully.

I can afford to buy the games brand new but ususally don't because I wait and then hunt down the bargains 3 for £20 or less. The only games I've bought brand new this year are Civ IV and Children of the Nile for my Mum on her birthday.

The Star Wars one I bought recently was new (still sealed in its case); I hunted for and got it for £12 including delivery and the expansion pack.

I'm a game junkie, and I get my fix from both first- and second-hand games. I have a great games exchange place right near my flat, so I don't have to go far.

I always buy new games for four reasons.

    (1) I generally don't want to wait.
    (2) I probably wouldn't trust the CD not to be scratched if I got it used.
    (3) I actually feel that if I am going to play the game then the manufacturer should be compensated for this.
    (4) Even if you are getting used original disks you have no way of knowing if the seller has copied them.

The above reasons also carries over to music and movies. My brother, who should probably be going around saying Arrr! quite frequently if you get my drift, thinks that I am crazy to actually buy DVDs or music CDs but I feel irresponsible if I don't.
