    What we asked:

Q: Which play aspect in a CRPG is the most important to you?
    (486 votes total)

    Single-player (353) 73%
Depends on the game (82) 17%
    Single and Multi-player equally (34) 7%
    Multi-player (17) 3%

Not surprisingly, single-player is the most important play aspect in a CRPG to the wide majority our visitors (73%) who voted in the poll.

To 17% of those who voted in our poll, the most important play aspect in a CRPG depends on what the game is like.

Only 7% of poll participants think that single and multi-player are equally important in a CRPG.

Finally, a mere 3% of those who voted consider multi-player to be the most important play aspect in a CRPG.

[IMG] This is exactly why I'm not at all excited about the batch of upcoming games. Who asked for an RTS D&D title? D&D online??? Last time I checked Massive Multiplayer and RTS were the furthest things from D&D. All I wanted was a Temple of Elemental Evil sequel or mission pack! UGGGHHH!!!

I'm still puzzled about how a single-player game can be classified as a role-playing game. With whom are you playing a role?

With no others participating, it seems to me that what you have is a type of strategy game with no actual role-playing involved.

But that's just me and I am obviously in the minority. Oh well. :)

You don't need to have someone to play a role to/with; CRPGs are not theatre, and neither are they like live role-playing. You can play a solo sorcerer through a game just fine, for example. Not to mention that all IE games allow you to take a host of characters along, forming a party (and even NWN has henchmen).
