[IMG] OK, a colleague andI thought up these silly spells during a road trip based on legal terms. Anyone familiar with the language will surely find some humor here, and those not so familiar will hopefully find something of value:

1.) Learned Hand: Higher level mage spell, sort of like Bigby's Ginat Fist, a sweeping hand comes over the affected field, causing crushing damage and a 50% chance to stun.

2.) Inconsistent Obligation: Cleric spell, lvl 5 or so, sort of like confusion. Causes the enemy to attempt to do two mutually exclusive things at once, resulting in a sort of paralysis.

3.) Contribution: Druid spell, causes any damage recieved from an enemy to be inflicted on the memeber of the enemy party affected by the spell.

4.) Double Indemnity: Druid Spell, higher level than above, no save.

5.) Summary Judgment: Priest Spell, affects only opposite aligned enemies, caster must be good or evil. Something like finger of death, causes a summary judgment of the enemy by the enemy's god based on the congruence of their actions based on alignment.

6.) Joinder: Druid spell: Enemy affectd now fights for the caster. Sort of like dire charm.

7.) Impleader: Druid spell: Sort of like summon undead, except it summons helpful NPCs of the kind most likely to be the same kind of situation the caster is in at the time.

I could go on, but the last time I posted this was when the system went off, and I can't rememeber them all. Maybe a "clas certification" spell, or "directed verdict"?

How about the high level mage spell "Lack of Evidence" gets you out of the most dire situations:D

Actually, I like the Temporary Insanity spell over the Lack of Evidence. Or better yet, the Lyrical Persuasion (sp) spell (you would hear Ozzy Ozbourne's Suicide Solution in the backgound and your character would go Berserk and attack anything in eyesight)

Learned Hand was good!!!! I'm assuming only law type nerds get that one!!! ;)

How about a few more name....I'm not creative enough to come up with effects though:

Zone of Twilight: If you haven't had the case yet it's Youngstown Sheet and Tube v. Sawyer IIRC...A cool name though.

    Scienter

    Mirror Image (a contract term)

    Fruit of the Poisonous Tree

I'm having trouble thinking of others...Brainlock, I suppose.

[IMG] I'm glad the post hasn't gone completely. I completely forgot about mirror image rule! Lets see...how about
motion in limine: a priest spell, higher level, causes an item in the enemies inventory to disappear forever. Unfortunately the priest doesn't get to keep it, but maybe there's a higher level version called:
    Clarity of Title!

I haven't come across "Zone of Twilight". I'll have to do a search on Westlaw!

[IMG] since I know absolutly nothing about the law, I figured I'd pitch in.

    How about:
"Prime-Time Stop" High level people with low intelligence can cast this spell which stops the combat while they try to force the legal process to happen exactly the way it does on "The Practice" or "Law and Order"

another idea this feeble brain had was:

"2nd Amendment" Similar to "Create Magic Items" a mid-level cleric can cast this spell and arm his party with high power missle weapons. Evil clerics can cast "Anti-2nd Amandement" which disarms the entire party of all weapons and immediately contacts the nearest government authority to send help. Response time is 2d20 TURNS, leaving the party ample time to plea for help.

On that note, how about the Appoint an Independant Council? The party loses are gold to pay for a guy or gal (does it really matter) to simply follow the party and do absolutely nothing. You cannot even have them carry any gear. On top of that, the guy charges by the hour, kinda like Ken Starr, without the cigar.

Double Jeopardy - 9th level mage spell. Only be affected by the same spell once...... (Potentially fatal damage first time though).

How about Rampant Swaggering. Causes every other character to become thoroughly drunk.

(I know nothing of this Law of which you speak)

[IMG] "The Grand Summoning of The Mutated Ill-Tempered Sea Bass" This spell calls into being a mighty Flying Sea Bass that Eats all your enemies up. No saving throw possible.
