i got my party members level drained by vampires, what happens then..
is there anyway i can restore levels?

 

You need Restoration spell. You can go to the priest in temple(they offer that service),use the Restoration scroll, or use spell Lesser Restoration(4th level cleric spell),or Greater Restoration.

 

but if level drained, do they get weak or something or nothing happens

 

The impact of level drain is exactly as the name suggests; your character loses some levels of experience along with any skills and abilities that went along with those levels (such as hit points, THAC0, spells, thief abilities etc). In short, your character goes back to what they were a few hours / days / weeks ago.

 

They can only level drain you on contact.
So make sure you get the necklace from the Thieve's GuildHall that prevents level draining, and put it on your tank. Undead Hunters are also immune to level drain.

 

To prevent level drain,use priest spell "Negative Plane Protection".It is very useful.

 

It's also rather annoying how the ability ("drain") works even though they, creatures like vampires, cannot cause damage. Even if you are completely immune to harm and have ten layers of stone around you, one hit and you still lose your levels and spells among with them. Bad design, I say.

 

Protection from magical weapons works i think, the level drain ignores stone skin azs you said though, id agree that its bad design.

 

Of course, when you wander in the city by night, the vampires appear far from your protected chars, close to unprotected ones.

This is a situation where you like to 'berserk'. But it happens you don't even have the time!

 

There is a simple solution for itaystar's Sunray ability

 

Protection from undead protects from drain too, and lasts for a long time. But it doesn't work on the tactics version of bodhi, sry.

Apart from the aforementioned necklace from the Thieve's GuildHall, is there anything else that can prevent level drain ? I've come up to the final battle against Bodhi, and I'm losing levels left and right

The level 4 spell: Negative Plane Protection should keep you safe. Both Clerics and Druids can cast it (at least Jaheira can).

A Paladin can too if he is high enough in levels to cast a level 4 spell, but my Undead Hunter never needs it.

I'll have to make upgrading the Mace of Disruption a level one priority once I get out of the Underdark.

 

Azure's edge can work to kill the vamps before they close in on you, combined with boots of speed you don't even need NPP, offcourse...against bodhi it's another matter...

 

If you have a fast caster - Vecna's robe and maybe the amulet, you could try to hold the vampires from a distance. It's much less certain than any of the other methods, but may work. Plus, Anomen, Viconia or another cleric may turn them successfully if a high enough level
