    I know - it's a funny title, but the topic is in all seriousness.

    This is not in regards to the Valerie Plame case, but on other pre-war intelligence in Iraq. I distinctly remember Bush saying that if it was ever discovered who was responsible, that person would be severely punished. I wonder what he is gonig to decide to do to himself.

    How utterly unsurprising. Now, I will be surprised if this actually makes a difference. Anyone who hasn't already decided the Bush admin is reeeaaally bad for the country is, in all likelihood, never going to change their minds.

    As expected, the administration already has a handy excuse: As Commander in Chief, Bush has the right to declassify any information he wishes. That statement is 100% true, but there are some gaping holes in this excuse. I have three major problems with it:

    1. If information is declassified, should it not be available to all, and not just Cheney's Chief of Staff? Shouldn't this information be made available for other media outlets once it is declassified?

    2. When both Bush and Cheney come out and say how much they detest the release of classified information, it is hypocritical to the highest degree to turn around and do this yourself.

    3. Just the sheer dishonesty of Bush saying how if he ever finds out who did this they would be fired (or maybe he said punished, but in public service, punishment usually equates to losing your job) when he knew all along how Libby got access to the information, because it was he that authorized it.
