For the Dutch people I got Ikhebje.nl Especially "Omgekeerd Zoeken" is nice. Type in the number of someone who called you, and you get their name.

I guess there is no need to point out OotS

Do you know how hard is it for me to organize the sites i usually go and post them here while not breaking the forum's rule?

If you are in U.S. or canada and you want to buy cheap good computer parts online.
    pricewatch.com

Buy games online, i usually go there. Sometimes, you will find good games under 48hrs madness, like Morrowind everything under one pack.
    gogamer.com

Online phone card company that i am using.
    mychitchat.com

maybe you want to buy Asian book, movie, dvd, cd, etc
    yesasia.com

maybe you prefer expensive Japanese imports,
    CDJapan

game faq, cheat, save files, you name it,
    gamefaqs.com

    great university,
    ISU

free library, have books of many kinds.
    wikisource

well, it's not quite right without mentioning
    wikipedia

Some people took a pictures of weird insect, they put them here and people identify for them here. Great site if you are studying entomology and needs help with id-ing too.
    BugGuide.net

Periodic table on web, what can i say.
    web elements

What is that Google Scholar thing? Looked just like normal Google but when I tried a search, I just got all sorts of weird stuff.

if you are writing a research paper, you want to cite from good sites or paper. google scholar helps you with that.

If you look at your search result, every article has a "cited xx times". Doesn't that help you immediately? the "cited xx times" link will take you into all the article that cited this paper.

    more of a 9 to 5 guy?

I have never in my life had to look up a research paper, but I can see the value of this if I did. Is all official research in the world now on Google?

not exactly. Google Scholar is not my first online choice either.

1st, the "scientists circle" have paper journals themselves. Science, Nature, PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences). These are the big names and their articles includes everything under the sun (or beyond for astronomy). There are many many more smaller and specific ones. So if you habitualy read these journals, you will have your fair share of information.

The biggest obstacle to searching for research papers (journals) online is "big names" wouldn't let you read them for free. Since my ISP in iowa state university, i can get into lots of journal sites that normally you couldn't get into. Sometimes, the publisher only lets you read 10 years or older outdated articles. Speaking of which, A Structure for Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid, coolest paper in the world. One page short, includes everything. Every sentence is a chapter in nowadays biology textbook.

    My usual starting choice are
JSTOR.org for humanities or social science need
    and
PudMed for biological papers, which is my major.
