    Hey

Does anyone know the difference between the LOTR 7-book box set and the normal 3-book version?

[IMG] There's no difference, only that you get the whole thing in 7 books instead of in 3.

[IMG] 3 book version? Never seen that one! Only a 4 book a seven book and a 1 book version.

Or did you not count the book with extra stuff, when you mentioned (<-- Spelling error?) the 3 book version?

4? no way..... The 3-book is just devided in The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. But The Fellowship of the Ring is also devided in book 1 and book 2, The Two Towers is book 3 and 4 and The Return of the King is book 5 and 6. I suppose this is the 7-volume version... I suppose the 7th book is the Appendix....

[IMG] The Appendix is sold as a book it self. There are versions of the 3th book withoud this appendix, in that way you had a four book collection. But now most of the time, you can find the appendix at the end of book 3..

[IMG] I don't think I've seen the 4 book version with the appendix apart from TRotK. I have the 3 books seperate from when I was young. I bought a 1 book combined version last year and also have the boxed set with 4 books but the fourth is the Hobbit.

The only set I know of is the 4 book set and the 1 book. There's The Hobbit, unless you don't count that, then THe fellowship of the ring, then the two towers, and The return of the king. Thats the only set i know of.

The 7 volume version i think was specially made for the release of the film, i have it too, it has the film image of Frodo's hand and the ring and little pictures from the movies on the covers aswell.
The seventh book is indeed the appendix
And just if you are curious here is the list of book titles:

    The Fellowship of the Ring:
    1)The Ring Sets Out
    2)The Ring Goes South

    The Two Towers
    3)The Treason Of Isengard
    4)The Ring Foes East

    The Return Of The King
    5)The War Of The Ring
6)The End Of The Third Age

    7)Appendices

[IMG] People, geez... There are more different versions (in style, not content, of course) of LoTR than any other fantasy book. LoTR is reprinted in another format, with a different number of books (in different countries) practically every year. And will continue to be, since it sells well.
