Well, get a big fat stick. Sharpen the edge. Hack a bit. Sharpen some more. Hack a bit. Add a handle.
Inscribe 'Doom' on it, and draw a hand.
    Your very own Hindo's Doom.
    :D

If you just want a knockaround piece o junk, just use a router or file to curve an edge of 2 fairly long pine boards. Then connect the two. Use a saw and a file to round the bottom of the two boards into a handle. Get a square piece of wood and bore a hole in the center of it that is as wide as your handle. Push the square to the top of the handle and secure. Voila.

Or, if you want a sparring blade:

    1. Go to the Orient.
    2. Purchase or find some real bamboo.
    3. Cure it.
    4. Fashion a blade and handle using sand grit and a hot iron.
    5. Create a handguard in a similar manner.
    6. Mount step 5 on step 6.
    7. Treat it.
    8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 because you probably made a mistake.
    9. Give up and make the cheap knockaround version.

[IMG] Don't make, buy!!!! We live in an age where it will cost more in your time and effort than to purchase one yourself. I made swords when I was a kid out of wood, but we didn;t have cool precision made ones you can buy! If they did, I would have spent more time fighting with them than making them!

I made my own trident once. Just sticked toilet paper rolls together and covered with paper. Unfortunately my mom chased me around the house with it and it broke.

    Here's how.

If you'd made use of search engines however, you'd have found it yourself.

Bokken is the wooden katana used for practice in aikido. Shinai is made of bamboo and is used in kendo. But I believe what you want is a bokken.

In any case I believe my post is a bit late but oh well :)
