We have two magic items that don't seem to work as described. Any tips would be appreciated.

    1. Horn of Blasting - I know this was voted the Most Useless Item, but I'd still like to know if I'm using it wrong. Every time I've tried it, the target is unaffected and only ones who take damage are the char blowing it and anyone standing near her. What gives?

    2. Boots of Etherealness - Two different chars have tried to use these boots. The item is no longer usable, but the paper doll doesn't change, no icons appear on the portrait, and they can still be hit. Again, what gives?

    1. IIRC, when the Horn of Blasting is used, a sonic wave emits in a circle from the character using the horn. Thus, there should be no target, just an area of effect around the character. If the enemies are unaffected, my only guess is that they've saved. vs. spell (if it is applicable), or something is wrong.

    2. That is definitely weird with the Boots of Etherealness being ununsable after it being used; it is usable once a day. However, it grants immunity only to nonmagical weapons. My only guess is that you were hit by a magical weapon and your characters took damage; natural attacks of powerful monsters may count as magical weapons for determining who they can hit. Of course, if a nonmagical weapon did strike your character, and he/she still took damage, then that is not right.

You are correct, and I worded my description poorly - the Boots are "use once per day." What i was trying to say is that the icon changes to indicate that the day's usage has been spent, but I get no indication on either the main screen or the character portrait to indicate any effect. Do _you_ normally see anything? I'll have to read the description more closely and see if I was using them under the proper circumstances.

Regarding the Horn, the damage I do see on the party members - including the person blowing it - is much smaller than the description leads me to expect. Another re-read is in order, I guess...
