I think it´s a very sad day for every football fan.
Once you have people in control who neither love the game nor have any other interest than squeezing money out of it footie is finished.
Can you imagine someone like Cantona, Best or even Keane working for some prat who puts financial success first.
No winter break, and a tour throug the states and one in asia in summer.
Players who are good enough to choose any club and who are not solely interested in yachts and Ferraris will choose a different club. One with a soul.
When Rooney dived against Arsenal in OT and stood up with a smile I wished them all the worst, but this they didn´t deserve.

I hate this stupid American piece of shiyat and fear this will ruin English football. A sad, sad day :( .

Most of your top teams have more foriegn players than English players.
Then a Russian bought Chelsea and an American is buying Man U.
EPL should should be renamed European Premier League. :D

At least Roman Abramovic took over Chelsea to make them sucessful and create a great club. He's spent sooo much of his own money to bring success. He's a massive footie fan. He's at nearly every Chelsea game. Will Glazier ever actually step foot in OT???

This stupid Yank knows nothing about 'soccer' and should stick to those ridiculous American sports and get the hell out of English football. He's here to make money and doesn't care about the club. That's really bad news. If I was a hardcore Man Utd, I'd be absolutely gutted to hear about this. He will transfer his £500 debt on the club and plunge them into some serious crap. Ticket prices will soar. Merchandise prices will soar. Not much money will be allocated on new transfers. I wouldn;t be surprised if he sells the likes of Ferdinand, Rooney, RVN et al in order to help cler his debts.

    A sad, sad day...

Like most Man U fans, probably not... :shake:

But seriously, he'll at least have to wait for things to calm down a bit ... I read somewhere that over 90% of United fans didn't want him to take over, and that sounds an underestimate! The people demonstrating looked uber-angry, and his sons' cack-handed attempt at professing to being Manchester United fans has only exacerbated matters.

Although I do feel that people who are treating it as the end of football are going a bit too far; it's one club - albeit one of the biggest - and there's no real evidence that he's an "asset-stripper". The stories of the saturation of corporate sponsorship that have been coming out of Tampa are worrying, though - it's not like football isn't commercialised enough already!

It's really a cautionary tale of MUFC's chickens coming home to roost - they floated on the stock market so as to bring in more money, but it was a gamble. This sort of thing could always happen.

Don't judge the guy before he's had a chance, true, but my gut instinct is that this is another nail in the coffin of Man U's dominance of domestic football. Whatever assurances they give, I can't see Sir Alex hanging around too much longer.

Yeah, I can definitely see Fergie leaving. This situation here gives Fergie a perfect platform from which to jump off a sinking ship with at least some level of dignity left. Before he's forced into admitting he's past it.
With his leaving, I can see Carlos Queiroz (sp?) taking the reigns. I REALLY hope Sven Goran Eriksson gets it personally though. That would allow us to see an English manager in charge of the English bloody national football side.
    Arise Sir Allardyce!!!

Moving to Whatnots. No matter how seriously you take your sports, it's still just sports.

Check the forum description for Whatnots.

    Thanks.

More important than politics anyway, not to mention more entertaining for the masses.

I don't know all that much about the guy, except for the fact that it's a Yank. But who knows, maybe things will work out if he puts the right people in the right places and let THEM handle the technical details. All he has to do is keep the money flowing. It might work out just fine.

That's the thing though, Pac man. He doesn't have any money to keep flowing! To be able to buy Man Utd, he's had to borrow at least £500m (probably about 700m Euro). All that debt will be transferred onto Man Utd when he delists them.

Sounds like the man is some sort of vampire then, and he'll be sucking ManU dry in the coming years.

I hate MUFC, but this Glazer guy is just a joke. Fricking Yank probably doesn't even know what football is. To him it's just another company. By buying MUFC, he is going to turn a profit making club into one that's about 500 million pounds in debt. I hope he gets a heart attack and dies a painful death.

Hm. Can't say I care very much. Except that maybe Arsenal will kick MU's ass more often. :D

Sorry, can't help it. I detest English Premier League football...prefer the Primera Liga.

But Arsenal is the only halfway decent team in the EPL anyway...as long as they are fine, I'm cool.

I saw yesterday that Ferguson will most likely quit if things go bad with this new takeover.

Sounds like the cold war. Russian buys club, American buys club.

Face facts, people. Soccer is big business and this is what happens when your clubs are companies.
