'Man From Another Time'

The man looked around,
one hand on his watch,
that hand on the time
that was slipping away.

His mission was stated,
quite clear, to be sure
simply eradicate
and there'll be no more war
It'd be better this way.

The man took a step forward
eyes still foreign
to the bright lights and colors
that littered the city
He thought it was pretty, that city.

As his hands started to shake
as they fumbled with keys
signalling devices,
missions of fear
to strike death down and reclaim
to end the war
to make life a bore.

He found the device,
it was silver and shining
like the moon, in the sky
or the angels that danced
their halos aprance
as they piroutted and twisted
limbs aflail
as death struck them down
It'd be better this way.

The war ended that night
as the man pushed the button
as death came down
and ended the trouble
ended the innocent lives in their beds
ended the babies and their hairless heads
ended the soldiers, with uniforms red.

He ended the trouble, that plagued his time
that plagued his world, his trouble, his rhyme
and as death came down with
civilization's end
the man and the time
slipped away.
