I've asked for good map making programs here at least twice here - let's face it, they don't exist. The best thing you'll ever have for this is pens, paper, and a scanner - otherwise you'll get stuck into the problem of some lame over-timeconsuming hexagonal based program that looks like something pulled from an old DOS game.

The closest thing to a good map making program I ever found was AutoREALM. I've seen some pretty decent stuff made with this program, but never managed to conjure up something good myself. It's free so it never hurts to give it a shot.

I gave up the search for a good program and just stick to pens and paper.

Pens and paper. That's what I'll stick with, I suppose. I'll check it out anway, Mesmero. Thanks.

The AD&D 2E core cd thingy had some map program i tried once and gave up becose i felt it was insanelly clumsy.

As i have seen recomended other places, the Age of Wonders 1 and 2 (computer game) map editors could be used. I made an atempt at this myself once, but got fed up with the adventure itself.

Damn it Mesmero! You got me! Truely, AutoREALM is one of the best free map makers out there. But check this out Lanty: I prefer to DRAW my maps on PAPER using CRAYONS, PENS, PAINT and anything else that comes into my artistic mind. Give it a try! You'll be surprised to see how players will react to maps made in this way as opposed to printed maps.
Don't forget about the art, kids!
