Well, it is divided in a real time battle mode and in a turn based resource management. In battle mode you'll have to get familiar with the camera. If you'll play the big campaign, some battles can last for a very long time, especially when huge numbers of troops are deployed. I remember a battle, where I had deployed 2000 troops and AI had deployed 3500 troops. It lasted for 3 hours. Of course, you have the option to let the computer do the battle. In this case the outcome of the battle it depends on the number of the troops, the rank of the generals and the quality of the troops.

On the other hand in the turn based mode (which is the most addictive part of the game in my opinion) you have to build various buildings, to create armies, to send asssasins, to bribe enemy generals etc. The most important thing is to keep your subjects loyal, which can be a real pain in the ass. Just try to put a christian governor in a muslim province and you'll understand what I mean. In conlclusion the turn based mode reminds me the CIV and the Lords of the Realm II.

It's quite a good game, if you like massive battles. I've played Shogun total war, and it was pretty entertaining.
