    Hello everyone!

I don't really know if there is a lot of people that play video games here but anyway. As the title suggest, this topic talk about the musics in video games! For me, musics is a very important thing in video games because it often set the mood and atmosphere. I don't know for you but I find that there is a lot of good musics to listen.

One game that I think has really good musics is the Castlevania series. One of my favorite is "The tragic prince". If you are interested in listening some of the musics of Castlevania, you should go there : http://www.classicgaming.com/castlevania/dungeon.htm

And if you ever wanted to listen to video games musics on your computer but you didn't find them, look no more. This site: http://www.vgmusic.com/ has surely what you want.

Anyway, coming back to the subject, is there any video games musics that you say WOW when you listen to them?

I quite like double dragon 2.

But the best game music ever, IMO, was in The Dig. It's just.... <speechless>

The music for Super Mario Bros was legendary. Second was the original Legend of Zelda score.

    Other notable mentions are:
    Bomber Man
    Contra
Dune 2 soundtrack (wicked even on PC speaker!)
Heroes of Might and Magic II
Doom 1/2 soundtrack (some are rip-offs straight out of classic metal songs)
    Icewind Dale 1/2 soundtrack
    Final Fantasy 7 soundtrack
    Warcraft 2 soundtrack
Diablo soundtrack (especially in town and catacombs)

Come to think of it, all the games by Blizzard have some very decent scores.

I love the music from Thief 1. Exactly my style.

I bought Dune 1 (the hybrid strategy-adventure game) purely for the sinister Atreides Court music. Oh yeah!

And the Gabriel Knight series mixed ominous jazz with an opera score.

But if anyone here has ever played the Neverhood...that music just sticks to you.

Equester - did you get the QfG5 demo-soundtrack CD with the QFG anthology pack? I still listen to it - great stuff! But they didn't include Katrina's theme...

Well, the only game soundtracks I can think of that I can still hear in my head are BG1 & 2 and Metal Gear Solid. Damn fine soudtrackas all, not that there's really a lot of music during MGS, but what there is is still damn good.

Big Bald, you just reminded me that the music in FF8 are really cool. It been a long time since I played this game!

Also it seem that a lot of people like the Icewind Dale music. One I really liked is the one you hear in the first town. Not at the dock but in the middle of the town. I was sometime coming back there only to listen to the music!

I'll try to hit two good ones that haven't already been mentioned:

The music for Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb is original and rolicking good for the atmosphere of the game.

I remember the original Dark Forces having smashing music too, even if I was a bit MIDI-ish sounding. Since then, the other Jedi Knight titles have used existing music from the SW movies, and there's nothing wrong with that at all - you know it's good because its John Williams. But Dark Forces was original and great with its music. I don't remember where, but somewhere I found a download where a person had cleaned up the soundtrack from the game and it sounds great.

A friend recorded them directly to CD from my C128. Yes, he's sick. He's bavarian, what do you expect?
