Metaphor: ReFantazio is the Perfect Turn-Based RPG for the Modern Era

Metaphor: ReFantazio undoubtedly feels like a Persona game. The distinct combat menus, the social-simulation features, and the impressive focus on the story, spanning almost a hundred hours without witnessing everything, are all familiar to any Persona fans out there. Despite the DNA of the series living within Metaphor: ReFantazio, the game feels remarkably distinct, and the only word to describe it is 'masterpiece'.

Just over a year after Final Fantasy 16 defied the series' formula by focusing on an action-heavy experience, Metaphor: ReFantazio's developers, with a history of directing and creating the long-running Persona series, are doubling down on the core mechanics that make a tantalizing turn-based RPG feel spectacular. It still touches on particular themes, without shame and putting politics at the heart of the experience, but Metaphor's focus on fantasy almost feels like a true successor to the Final Fantasy franchise.

    Conclusion
Metaphor: ReFantazio is a masterpiece, delivering an exceptional cast of characters in a tantalizing narrative. With engaging combat and incredible visuals, Metaphor is a must-play for fans or newcomers to the genre. The only bad thing? I can't play it for the first time again.

    Sore: 10/10
