Ok, this is not a RPG...I've just been playing it for the last couple of day while I'm waiting to get a new game (or until the new expansion pack for NWN comes out) So I thought I'd post and ask if any of you's out there have beaten the expert level of minesweeper...if indeed you have actually played it.

I beat expert level regularly, but that's because I was taught all the tricks that keep the guessing to a minimum. Once in a while though, there's no avoiding the coin toss situation.

Hmmm... three canadians in a row.

Anyway, I could never figure out how to play minesweeper. How do you know where the damn mines are going to be? Is it a game of patterns?

    I just don't know.

    Make that four Canadians. :)

I don't play that often but I have little difficulty winning on expert level. You will typically lose a fair number of games in the first half dozen moves but once you get started it is not that difficult. Sometimes you will come down to having to make a guess towards then end but you will eventually win if you stick with it.

The game can be played and beaten using only logic but pattern recognition helps a lot with solving the puzzles quicker.

Oh boy, I've been playing this little bugger too much. It gets kind of addicting in the end. To answer the question, then yes, I've defeated the hard difficulty a lot of times. You need luck in the beginning but afterwards its plain logic. I once tried a game of minesweeper with hexagonal fields. That made it too easy, as then there were only six adjoining fields.

solitaire, free cell, hearts -- they are all solid card games. Why, why is minesweeper being slotted among these three?

If Microsoft make no intention to take this stupid game away in the near future, i am not using Windows anymore!!!

Maybe Microsoft actually includes Minesweeper because it is a good little game? If you want card games, please buy a deck of cards and go ahead. Oh, and please don't say that your choice of OS is going to be influenced by the inclusion of Minesweeper. That's just plain dumb....

Darn... posted a little late to continue that Canadian streak. :(

Yeah, expert mode can be completed. I know it sounds tough at the start, but once you get the hang of it, you beat it soon. There really isn't anything more different than playing Intermediate level, except you need a longer attention span. :)

I was in the army for 10 months a while back, and all we did when there was some time to kill was to play "Röj" which is he swedish name for it. I didn´t understand a thing at first. But as said, once you get a hang of it it´s actually pretty easy. I dont remember the exact time though, but I know I did the easiest on 2 secs (Lucky? Noooo :D ). Then we made the middle on like 47 secs I think and the largest on something around 130. Although we were 2 when we played...

When I was in Kosovo, we had an observation post, where we were supposed to keep watch over the ruins of a village. After some time, we got a computer, so we didn't need to do the journals by hand. (It's amasing how many people are completely unable to spell and do decent handwriting!) Of course we just started to play solitaire and minesweeper when on guard, so some of the higher ups decided to delete the links in the start menu. Of course, none of them was smart enough to realise that those were only links, and that you can still start the game from explorer.... :)

It has been top of the recently used programs list on my XP machine for almost two years on the trot now. Tend to play a quick game or two whilst waiting for my internet connection. Have a best time of expert of 107 seconds, but have for the past year or so set the thing to its maximum size and added a extra mine every time I complete it. Just completed 191 after a lot (several months) or trying, now on 192, but haven't yet come to close to getting that one.

I remember this one time I was at a friends house and I stayed up until 4 in the morning until I beat all his families high scores!

    I'm also Canadian!
