A friend and I recently discovered all the great mods for this game and we both have successfully installed FOTD. I was hoping the whole LAN setup would be as easy as knowing the host's IP and disabling my firewall. But alas it doesn't work. Has anyone ever successfully played a LAN game with mods? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As long as you all have the same mods, everythig should work fine.

Allthough i never tried to, it should also "find" eachothers even with different mods installed, just not be able to start play or just crash at places where changes occour dependent upon what mods etc you have installed.

Go over with your buddy exactlly what mods and patches etc you have installed. If you can not connect you probablly have to look into the network setup on each.

I actually need more specific intructions on the network setup. i was assuming TCP/IP is the setting to use. But I was never able to connect to my friends game and he was never able to connect to mine. It is the Ip address that you use and not the gateway right? Also my friend is on a wireless connection if that helps.

Well, quite a late response, but what the heck. Yes it's the IP you use (correct me if I'm wrong), but like I've told many other people; use GameSpy Arcade. It's a free program you download where you can play online with your friend and other people (although now-a-days no one plays BG2 online).

Possible reasons why you can't connect vary. What error messages do you or your friend recieve?
