I've never played with any mods installed (except the merchants) and now when I'm starting it all over again on a new computer I give them a chance. I've read alot about mods that don't interfere with each other and makes the game crash and so on so I'd like you to list me the best (non cheesy) mods. So far I've downloaded the Ascesion, Un-finished business and the upgrade mod. I've read alot about them and the Ascesion maybe even restore Demogorgon to the terrifying enemy he should be.

*edit* I play with a evil party and there are not to many evil NPC's in the game so any evil NPC mods are also welcome. DON'T even DARE to mention Valen!

Definite ones to avoid: The Darkest Day and Shadows Over Soubar. The first is really buggy and the second gives you a +5 sword every time you turn a corner.

Unfinished Business is great and I'm enjoying playing that one now. Solufein is a worthwhile mod and Ascension is excellent (although INCREDIBLY hard). Not played with any of the others yet and I've been put off Valen by how overpowered I keep hearing she is.

I think Kelsey-SoA and Kelsey-ToB are very well-done mods, and definately recommend them. He's a sorcerer, and pretty talkative, which scores well with me. :)

EDIT: I just reread the thread and realised that you wanted evil NPCs. Oops. Kelsey is not exactly evil...heh. Still, he's worth trying out on a neutral or good party, if you feel like a change :)

You were obviously very, very, VERY lucky, Bloodtitan. What do you mean about no journal though?

i meant that you don't get notes in your quest-journal about whattodo or progress of the quest.

I never noticed about the journal. What I *did* notice were the hordes of enemies called "+2 long sword" and "greater malison" due to messed up scripts that TDD brought along with it. And several areas of the game being inaccessible due to other problems. And Drizzt never showing up. And going to speak to Aran Linvail after returning from Spellhold only to find that he sent me there again!

    And quite a few others...

Maybe the latest patches have fixed these problems but TDD was one big nightmare for me. Some great ideas, and nice to see the returning NPCs from BG1, but just too many bugs for me to enjoy it.

ehm no. the current ToB version of TDD works very good. if you experienced probs like that you should check the TDD forum on teambg page.

the drizzt "bug" is still there but can be easily avoided. it is caused by the early possible access of the small teeth pass and tethir forest.
you can circumvent the "bug" by leaving from 'exit of the underdark' to only 'city gates' map.

TDD, ignoring the bugs (Bloodtitan, you were lucky), is not a very good mod in the first place. 90% of the new kits are ridiculous, and they have so many that it fills up the space and you can't install any other kits.

Other than that, there are tons of overpowered, unbalanced items, not to mention that, other than Adario, the NPC's are nothing to get excited over. Especially since they changed the kits of all the returning BG npc's (which wasn't a very good idea anyway. I mean, there's too many people returning from BG in the game already. Does everyone just follow you around?)

    -- end anti-TDD rant---

The best mods I've come across is Acension, Solau, and some little ones like Virtue, banter packs, etc.

Yea, but even "Virtue" has it's flaws; it messes up some dialogs and makes the planar prison -quest inaccessible.

    :'(

Um, more details so I can fix this one would be nice. Which dialog is broken, and which part of the Planar Prison is inaccessible?
