As a generic answer, I think the answer is 'yes', because I'm pretty sure I've done this by accident, but not with a Monk. So specific to a Monk, I'd guess 'yes' as well, but I don't know if the fist would have the normal Monk bonuses; I kind of doubt it, since you can't dual-wield two fists.

Monks can't have anything in the off hand, I think.

A bit of topic but I don't find it necessary to create a whole new topic for just this question. I'm playing with a monk for the first time and I wonder were to put my stats / weapon points, stars... whatever. I don't know ANYTHING about monks but I enjoy the thought about beating Jonny-boy senseless with my bare hands ;)

Well, you should try putting them in the single weapon style and then, put some in Scimitar, for the cool Ninja-To you get from one of the bonus merchants, the one at the Copper Coronet. Can't really remember the name though...

Other than that, the monk wll do well, only use the Ninja-To against creatures that are immune to your damage, to swap it with slashing damage instead of the all natural beat-down!

the ultimate way to use a monk is to level them up quickly, because thats what gives them immunities and resistances, the higher the level, the more power the monk has in its arsenal.

If you're going to give a monk weapons, wouldn't you be better off not bothering with a monk at all and just going for a fighter?

"Does any of the weapon profiencies improve the monks fist fighting?"

    No.

"the higher the level, the more power the monk has"

This is not only with monks, everyone gets more powerful as they level up.

"Is it wise to give him weapons?"

    No.

"If you're going to give a monk weapons, wouldn't you be better off not bothering with a monk at all and just going for a fighter?"

    Yes, you would.

when i said that about the higher the level the monk is the stronger he is i said it because thats what gives them more damage, effects what kind of enemies your fists can hit, due to them being considered +2-3 at lvl 20 or something like that, and they gain more ac i believe as they level up, and more saving throws, and yes i realize other classes get some of these as well, the other classes do not get as many as they level up nor as much. much meaning number they go up, and many meaning number of things that can go up. if that made sense then you need to be analized.

Yes, monks get way more stuff than any other character. Immunities and magic resistance, just to mention a few you left out.

I just thought it sound abit funny, that´s all :D
    (Excuse my poor grammar here)
