...I definitely got a scroll (or scrolls!) for this spell in the first 2 games I played, probably in the Shadows of Amn part too.

But I am now playing my third game and I am in Saradush in the early part of ToB and although I have loads of other spells, I cannot find Mordekainen's Swords scrolls and I like that spell, even though I've managed to survive without it so far.

Is there anywhere where I can find or purchase this scroll in ToB? What about SoA, where did I miss getting it there (cos for sure I must have!)?

    Thanks

You can buy them off of the merchant Carlig 2, which I believe only appears whenever you do a certain quest, and sorry, but I don't remember what it is.

You can also get them as random treasure in game. There is no place where it will always drop as treasure.

[EDIT]That is just for SoA. In ToB, you can buy the spell at the Arcana Archives.[/EDIT]

Ah thanks - Yes I bought them from Arcania Archives in ToB for my latest game. They are very handy for the more complicated and difficult battles (well they change them from difficult to slightly challenging)! I probably found them as random treasure in my first game thru in SoA.

I bought Mordenkainen's Sword scroll from Carlig (duergar in Underdark) while I was in drow form.

Yes, Harkle, that's the Carlig 2 that I mentioned in my above post. There are two of them. The original that you meet in surfacer form (Carlig), then Carlig 2 which is met as a drow.

Thanks for the little reminder. I forgot to put that into my above post when I realized where he was.

Excellent. Those swords are possibly the most useful summon - not much seems to harm them, although I think Abizigal managed to destroy one of the four somehow I attacked him with before he went down (along with a planetar and the rest of my party attacking admittedly...)
