    [IMG] Can anyone fill me in on who these three people were who are so honoured that they have spells named after them? Why are there only 3-4 spells that are named after somebody?

    No doubt this is something to do with some D&D story unrelated to Icewind Dale II?

    IIRC Malavon makes appearance in IWD1. I dont have any history on him though. All I know is that he is a crazed mage and that he created atleast one clone of himself that got transformed/transformed someone into an umberhulk.

    I dont remember if he appears in IWD2, but he´s spoken of in it. I dont remember his name, but the drow whos sister you can save from the drider place speaks of him. Might even be Malavon you speak to and that it was his clone you killed in IWD1.

    (I´ve only completed IWD2 twice and my memory get´s worse every day I live :) )

    Mordenkainen is the unofficial leader of the Circle of Eight; a group of wizards from the Greyhawk Campiagn setting, who try to maintain a balance of powers among the states of Flanaess.

    All those others (Mordenkainen, Otiluke, Tenser, Otto, Bigby, Melf, Vecna) were powerful people in the world of Greyhawk. I believe they are named after them because they actually created the spell.

    Malavon is the drow mage right? The one that asks you to dispense of the driders?

    To fullfill your question , there are some more spells with names in. I'll just list them here and try to give you the answer to who they were/are (altough it may take a while).

    ->(Abi-Dalzim) , (Agannazar) , (Beltyn) , Bigby , [Drawmij] , Evard , {Khelben} , (Larloch) , [Leomund] , (Malavon) , Melf , Mordenkainen , {Nahal} , [Nystul] , Otiluke , [Otto] , [Rary] , (Snilloc) , (Sol) , [Tasha] , Tenser , {Vecna}.

    () Not found in Player's Handbook 3.5.
    [] Not found in IWD II.
    {} Elsewhere.

    Agannazar : Archmage who has a fortress on the elemental plane of fire.
    Khelben Blackstaff Arunsun : Famous Arch-mage of Waterdeep linked with the harpers.
    Larloch : Evil Netherese Sorcerer who has become an 'ultra-lich' and controls many other liches as well. Immune to spells (has permanent spell reflection) and psionics. He is very powerfull!
    Malavon Despana : The crazy drow mage from IWD I and IWD II.
    Snilloc : Creator of several missile type spells , author of the tome The Collected Wisdom of Snilloc.

    Most of the circle of eight were the pc's under grandmaster Gary Gygax(also known as the chaotic god Zagyg). I think a couple of the were played by his sons and Lord Robilar(unsure of spelling too long ago) was played by Rob Kunz?
