    [​IMG] im playing an archer and i get 3 attacks per round but they only do 19 damage all the time and im at the highest level possible and i was thinking that i would be doing more damage that just 19 per arrow is there something im doing wrong or is that about average damage?

    That's probably about right. An arrow normally does 1d6, and you don't get any damage bonus from strength with missile weapons.

    The damage is about right...

    1d6
    +5 (grand mastery)
    +8 (level 24 archer kit bonus)

    14 - 19 damage

    but only 3 attacks per round? there's something wrong there, my level 25 archer has 5 attacks per round... 3.5 base + 1 for bow + 1/2 for Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialisation (or Boots of Speed would also give you +1/2).

    The problem with archers, and why I'll never play one, is that having gone through the game a few times I have come to the conclusion that there is a dearth of decent arrows. Highest THAC0 (notice I spelled that correctly, Tal? ;) is +3...so you have to sit out a lot of the big fights.

    Incidentally, how do I get the snazzy smileys in the text of my posts, and what does IIRC mean? (I worked out AFAIK all on my own, but I can't figure that one out.)

    When you are posting a reply, look to the left at the Smiles Legend.

    Also, I played an archer and found there to be plenty of arrows of several types. Now there is a limited supply of FREE arrows, but there are plenty to be bought.

    Yeah, but the best you can do in any scenario is +3. Arrows of piercing are +4 THAC0, but only +1 enchantment...er, I think. And you don't even get the +3's 'til at least Watcher's Keep. There are plenty of critters out there which require more mojo than that to be affected..

    For those monsters that need better weapons, just set aside your bow and pick up a melee weapon.

    Yeah, yeah, I know.. but with only one *, and well...an Archer ought to be using the weapon he's best with when fighting big bad guys.

    Tho' I s'pose +5 arrows would make him a bit too powerful, with all those attacks and proficiencies.
