[IMG] I'm curious about the class selection in this game. From what I can determine any character can develop any skill. The issue is how easy it is to develop and that is based on if you list it as a major, minor, or other skill.

Is there a limit to how high a skill can level up?

I'm curious if I have to make a specialist character to survive? Are well rounded characters a death sentence?

I was thinking about a Battlemage as I liked the ability to use an axe and cast spells.

I'm curious what everyone's favorite character is and why?

-Skills (and attributes) top out at 100.
-Other way around, really. Morrowind encourages being not just a jack-of-all-trades, but a master-of-all-trades.
-Custom classes are the way to go. Pick your skills, your attribute boosts, etc. If you want to go simple the first time, I'd suggest doing the questionnaire to see what it pegs you as. Well, I'd suggest doing it anyway out of curiosity, but that's just me. ;)

I'm a battlemage myself, mostly because the ability to wear heavy armour, wield big swords or axes, and cast spells at the same time.

And no, in a way there is no limit to how high you could level up, but there isn't really a need for that, as soon as you reach level 30, you're pretty much invulnerable anyway. Last time i played the game i entered Bloodmoon (after finishing Morrowind+Tribunal as a level 92 character, go figure. It's fairly easy to reach such a high level, simply put fortify strength constant effect enchantments on everything you wear. For instance, i wear exquisite pants, an exquisite belt, and an exquisite shirt under my armour, and they are all enchanted with constant effect fortify strength. I have a pair of Daedric dual wield katana's, and both swords are also enchanted with fortify strength, as are my Daedric greaves and pauldrons. All together my strength is at a total of 202, which allows me to keep training all attributes governed by strength, such as Heavy Armour and Blade, which happen to be 2 of the Battlemage's main skills. So even when both skills are maxed to 100, i can still level up higher by paying the mastertrainer in said skills for a practiceround, all it takes is a pocket full of cash, which is absolutely no problem in the world of Morrowind. :D

Officially not, but some modders made it happen. It's not really dual wielding as in being able to hit opponents with two swords at once, the second sword more or less functions as a shield, so you can only block with it, but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

You can find the mod that i use here and it's called "Leia's dual wield mod", so search for the "L" in the weapons section of the Morrowind downloads, and you'll find it soon enough. The parrying katana has exactly the same enchantment rating as a Daedric Towershield, which is the best piece of equipment in the game to put an enchantment on, so it's quite useful. And besides all that, the katana's are marked with rune signs, and kinda glow in the dark, it's my favourite weaponry in the game.

I always go with a custom class and pick skills based on the type of character I want to try out. Your primary skills are your bread and butter (main weapon, armour, block, and two others), secondaries are the nice other things that you want to be a little better at.

    @pac man

    thx dude!

    and to be on-topic

i like to only pick a few of the skills i'm going to use as my major skills, otherwise i might level up too fast, and the enemis can kick my arse too easily

@Balle, the enemies do not level up with you in Morrowind, their levels are static.

Although that may be true, the higher you level up, the more chance you have of encountering tougher opponents such as Golden Saints.

And Demora Lords, which are nasty if you use spells.

Anyway A common build of mine is a mage with every magic ability except for Illusion, which I replace with Blunt Weapon. Then I focus on getting to the Cranium Brasher as fast as I can.

my point was that the monster are PC level based, but being as they apperantly are not, this is only the case in Oblivion, which is the one i have played the most of the two

I went with a Red Guard custom warrior class.
    Major Skills/
    LongBlade
    Heavy Armor
    Medium Armor
    Light Armor
    Acrobatics
    Athletics
    Security

Minor skills/(these dont matter that much)
    Alchemy
    Destruction
    Blunt
    Short Blade
    yadayadayada i cant remember

But i played Morrowind for a grand total of six years...Not straight every1 dont wrry im not THAT obsessed. If you have begun playing this as a mage or an archer i would suggest you quit and play as a warrior. Mages are cool in the fact they have great alchemy skill and spells look cool. But any enemy that is actually worth killing has spell resistance or some other jazz. And archery...just not fun. Now a warrior you can get ur little fun with magic by enchanting and the warrior at higher lvls IS unstoppable. At the end there my str was over 2000 no enchantments. A nice little glitch with corprus disease, right before you get it cured sleep for about ten years in game and get it cured you still get to keep the added str and endurance (not sure if this works onb expansions, although i have them i played on normal first) I hope this helps. I would also suggest going to Dren Plantation and killing every1 there for some nice armor and weapons for any lvl. Although if you dont have warrior you will probly get slaughtered.

    GOOD LUCK

Sleeping for 10 years equals how many times of clicking the "rest" button? Somewhat 3500 times?

No thank you, i'll go with the enchantments instead, and finish the game before i have a long grey beard. :shake:

That is fun though, think I used lover's kiss on the first, drank some stamina potions, then eye of fear on the other. Killed the feared one with my alternating jinksword and poisonblade, before getting after the other.

Favorite class is tough, especially because I don't think I've played enough. The most magic I've really used was with my Redguard who pretty much only used hearth-heal... I really don't know.

I used Glass Jink blades to paralyze them and inflict damage while they can't do anything in return...

My brother had some problems with one of his builds... Probably the short sword one. In my experience, those small blades just don't seem to have what you need. You need more damage. It's not like you can't do that, but you're generally better off with bigger toys. Don't know about armour. I've only really used Heavy.

Using short blades requires carrying two weapons. One for paralyzation and one for damage. When you can hit twice in the time the enemy hits once, it makes a bit of difference, but when you can hit five or more times for each swing they take at you, it makes a big difference. I'd also suggest adding some long range for a bit of initial damage, whether you go with spells or weapons.
