Most Powerful BG1 Tutu solo character possible?

    I'm trying to legally, and under the 161,000 XP cap create the most powerful solo character possible without reloading.

    The best I can think of is either any Dwarf (Berserker, Barbarian, a Fighter/Cleric or a Fighter/Thief) because they've got great saving throws, and will regenerate with a 20 CON. My other thought is a dual classed Berserker (for the immunities) 7/Mage. A Berserker/Mage can beat Drizzt and use the Defender Scimitar at the Grandmaster level. He'd have tons of HP and have Mage spells for protection. Another option I'm considering is a Berserker 7 > Druid. Druids can cast Ironskin... 'nuff said on an already formidable fighter. Problem is that rolling an optimal Berserker > Druid dual is really tough.

    A Blade is really not that bad either. Offensive Spin works with ranged attacks and bows are just awesome in BG1 tutu (Acid Arrows, Arrows of Dispelling and Arrows of Detonation come to mind). Moreover a solo Blade can use many wands to compensate his/her loneliness. ;)

    It seems to me regeneration isn't worth building your character around if you're going for power. It's a convenience, but not terribly useful in combat.

    How quickly would your spell protections run out in a 1v1 fight with Drizzt though..?

    It's all about spamming the Wand of Summoning.

    Considering all the traveling you do, it's a sweet way to heal.

    I'd say a Ranger/Cleric.

    I'm playing one, and he's immensely powerful.

    I've fallen permanently in love with thief multiclasses. They're just so cheeselicious, especially in the beginning. *stab-stab* Peek-a-boo, slit your throat, got your spine and both of your pancreas'! :yum:

    So that would be a borinole dwarven F/T...or if you're really into micromanaging later on, a half-elf F/M/T...or if you're into interesting, powerful and yet challenging a gnome C/T

    I'm going to give the Berserker 7 > Mage a try. The main problem I face is this: How do I gain 8 Mage levels, solo, without reloads?

    I can only think of saving easy quest rewards until I switch classes. I guess scribing all the scrolls I can helps, but they don't help that much in tutu (this isn't BG2 where you get a lot of XP for scrolls).

    After the character is complete, and the Berserker levels are active, I don't see him having many problems. I'll have a great AC (Robes of the Good Archmagi, Drizzt's Defender Sword, a good shield, Balduran's Cloak and Helm, and a +2 Ring).

    I would save all the errand quests until after you've dualed. Also alot of the really easy low level quests(silke, beregost spiders, marl, note from Roe, dryads etc.) Until after the dual. Get a wand of fire and go decimate gnoll stronghold too. That would probably level you once. Flesh golems? Basilisks? The basilisks should be fairly easy with prot. from petrification/mirror eyes and wand of lightning/fireballs.

    Duel Class

    I tried a fighter or cleric and dueled to a specialist mage. In SoA the game only lets you duel-class to a regular mage :confused:. If you start as a cleric you end up with both types of spells and if you start as a fighter you end up as a mage that can use many different types of weapons (or 1 or 2 pretty well) and still have the bonus spell you get by not being a regular mage.

    I've always been a fan of the Avenger in Tutu. Sword Spiders and Salamanders are really decent enemies to be able to change into and use on your own. Add in the druids spells (and extra spells), and you've got a powerful character able to hold it's own in Tutu.
    You won't be wearing Studded Leather, but it's really not big a drawback when you have Ironskins and other spell prots.
