Mother's Day is just a few weeks away, so we'd all get ready for our moms, wives, and the mothers of our children

I just got done ordering my wife her present. It is the first season of Xena on DVD. (Ordered here) )

I think she'll love it!

My mother and I haven't spoken for like ten years...But my stepmother will get something nice!!!

 

Oh well, as usual: Something to improve her looks, Curling T(h)ongs. But I always TELL her she doesn't need them!

 

Thongs for your mom MoN???? In America, a "thong" is a type of underwear with just a few strings holding the thing together. I'm wondering what it means in the Netherlands, or if your a real sick puppy!!!!

What can I say Shura! We are a match made in heaven (and yes, my wife's personality is very Xena-like).

I guess I'll have to sacrifice my time staring at her and Gabriel bouncing around New Zealand. Some would wonder if this is more for me than it is for her, but I think that this present is just like Xena ... it goes both ways!

 

I have to get my wife something cool or she will kill me. If I got her the Xena collection, for instance, you would not be hearing from me unless they have ISDN in heaven. You're lucky your wife likes that stuff.

I guess chocolate, roses and a card will be a good start, but I have to come up with something more and better if I want to live . . . .

 

Try a gift certificate to a local spa, Depaara. Pedicures, facials and massages would probably be pretty well-received!

 

Not married yet, so my girlfriend ain't gettin' butkus. She got jewelry on Valentine's so I'm in the clear until her birthday...or payday. Oh, who'm I kidding - I'm so owned.

Mom however, I like to spoil on Mother's day. I figure with all she does for me and as hard as she works, sometimes 60+ hours a week, she needs to feel special. Aside from nice flowers, I think she appreciates things that I've made and put thought into rather than some cool gadget or whatever that I buy. She loves Elton John, so this year I made her a CD with all her favorite songs of his, plus some new ones. While she's at work, I'll sneak over and steal her car and get it washed and waxed. Then when she gets home I'll have the house and everything all spotless and a nice bottle of wine, so she can spend the day doing the one thing she never gets to - RELAX. Kind of puts my Dad to shame...he usually has to be reminded just to get her a card. Love my Dad, but he's not exactly the sentimental type.

 

Agh! Don't remind me of that! Mother's Day is on my birthday.

 

My mother told me, via SMS that "Other people have Mother's Days. I don't have a daughter" a few days ago. The same thing, or a variation of the theme, has been happening for the last ten years or so. She has used throwing everything I try to do for her on mother's Day back to my face as a way to make me feel bad/guilty/whatever ever since I was a little kid, so I no longer even bother to try.

Maybe I call her and tell her to go **** herself? Wouldn't be the first time. And she would deserve it.

You know, we used to have this big celebration thingy at my Elementary school on Mother's Day instead of the day when school ended... my mom used to make a point of not coming there past third grade... it was a terrible humiliation in such a little backwater village such as I lived in.

Yeah, I think I'll call her. That is, if the ***** hasn't gotten my mobile messed up by then.

You must have your mother's day ages after ours. I got a card for Mother's day, and gave my mum some smellies (bath salts etc)

 

Shell, that's just what i was thinking! In England, at least, mothers day is a sunday in march, the 30th this year, the 10th the year before. Is it different elswhere in the world? or are you all just late/early ?

 

According to my calender, Mothers Day is on the 11th of May in America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It's probably on the same day here in Holland. Anyway, I'm getting my mother the DVD of the second Harry Potter movie (it just came out here in Holland).

 

It's always on a sunday in May here in the USA, so the date changes from year to year I want to get a new mother for mothers day j/k Well, maybe not

 

On a completely unrelated note, this will be my first *real* mother's day as a bona fide mother. So watch me wander around all day and murmur "God, I'm getting old" !

I think for my mother dearest I'm probably going to get her a gift certificate for a manicure and some wine. Anything else she'll wrinkle her nose and tell me she doesn't wear jewelry/perfume/that size of clothes. My mother, the picky woman.
