Multi rogue to wiz -> no spellbook

I'm experiencing a strange problem.

Rogue 13 (lightfood halfling)
STR 10, DEX 23, CON 14, INT 14, WIS 12, CHA 6

Multiclass to everything work fine, except wizard.
(Check INT 14 and you'll understand why I'm )

Rouge 14 / Wizard 1 does not gain spell book, e.g. in spells screen (S) is no entry in the upper part where entries like "Sorcerer", "Wizard", "Cleric", "Domain", .. are (for my other party members).

I tried with plain wizard, and all possible specializations. This one is a member of 6. I made a solo rouge and tried to multi with wiz - the same thing happened.

I have v2.01.

Is there someone who succesfully multiclassed rouge to wizard ? Or rouge / <class> to wizard ?

 

I thought that Rogue could be multiclassed to Demarch of Mask, but... nope, it doesn't work... Is should try experimentally Demarch of Mask multiclass to Rogue... Hope it will work...

As for the problem... I don't made Rogue to Wizard - it's useless, because:

1. I think that the Wizard is not as good as the Sorcerer and...
2. better making pure class mage, than multiclassing into wizard or sorcerer.

 

No offense ment, I just want to explain why rogue/wiz

INT for rogue -> skills, and second use of INT is Wizards spellcasting

I have pure sorceress and pure evoker, but why couldn't I have some support spellcasters ?

already multi fighter/sorcerer ...

 

Quicho, you don't get any spells free if you multiclass your character to a wizard, so buy some scrolls, scribe them into your book and then check spells screen.

 

Yep, that's it. Defenately! I had a rogue which I dualed to wizard and I couldn't cast spells until I learned some (quite logic). When you copy the scrolls to your spellbook, the wizards book button appears.

An other thing is that when you learned the spells, there is not yet an action button for 'Cast Spell' in the main frame. Just right click on any available slot and add the spell-button.

I was not writing about spells (free or not free), but about SPELL BOOK, or spell slots. (But in the end it helped me)

In IWD2 is in the head of spell screen (S) a row of buttons. On one or more of these buttons are names of spell groups (as I wrote in original question): "Wizard", "Sorcerer", ... - more, if a character can cast spells from more groups, e.g. Cleric & Domain, ...

When I multiclassed a rogue to wiz, these buttons remained empty. E.g. no place for writing scrolls.

Maybe one of them will read "Wizard" after writing first scroll.

(5 minutes later - loaded savegame before last level up)

"Spell book created" while learning 1 spell. I even didn't try this. Before. When I "had no spell book", I did not wanted to "waste" a scroll. I would say: a simple flaw in interface caused big confusion in me.

(I'm experienced PnP D&D player, know most of 3e as player, a big piece as DM - it was not an issue on rules, but on SW ...)

The confusion:

I can see empty spell slots when a wizard gains ability to cast spells of level 2, 3, 4, ...

But when a wizard gains ability to cast spells of level 1 I cannot see empty spell slots ... (when gained this ability by character creation, automaticaly "learned" some free spells)

My structural thinking + this non-symetric behaviour caused confusion ... and namely on wizard character (wizards should love systems ... and symetry is a nice one)

 

Elan. You may have had an alignment conflict when multiclassing from Rogue to Mask Cleric, because the clerics must be specific alignments whereas it does not matter for a Rogue.

Once somebody asked me about a Cleric/Druid as being impossible. It is possible so long as the alignments don't conflict.
