I've got a fighter mage as my main character. I thought it was a cunning plan that would get around the experience limit of 2,900,000. Little did I realise that as soon as I hit 1,400,000, or there abouts, the experience cap would stop me giong higher. Frustrating as I was still in the UNder Dark.
I got round that little problem by installing ToB, hey presto, the clock ticked upwards for the rest of SoA. Great! ONly now I'm about to start ToB. Am I going to hit a similar experience ceiling two thirds of the way through the game, and is there anyway to get round it? Any place I can pick up a reliable patch.

Look here level 40 is way more than enough for your character OK. Even most dieties don't have levels this high. XP cap is 8000000 and when you reach it, it is over. The Darkest Day did the lvl 50 rules but they didn't work correctly. So what I'm saying is - that's it and get over it.

[Edit] Excuse me for being rude it's just that I'm really angry that there is still no IWD2 in our stores :) [/Edit]

Basically, any experience cap is a cap on the total experience your character has gained, no matter how many levels it is split between. And yes, level 40 is plenty high enough :)

Unless you're soloing, you will not reach the 8 million cap in ToB without cheating. I actually once powergamed my way through as a test. With a six-man party, gaining xp on everything possible, I finished the game with my main character having close to 7M xp.

Jeez, you guys are pretty uptight? Ask a simlpe question get a million insults! Reason for wanting to got more than 8 million. Split between two that means four million each, that means the mage half only gets a single level nine spell to use.

I don't want to seem petty but i was rather looking forward to being able to cast absolute immunity and then imprisonment and then follow it up with a couple of blows with Crom Fayer

I'm sorry I started the whole insult thing.

Anyway if you want to get over the XP cap then I think you should download TDD (The Darkest Day) that has no XP cap and alows you to reach 40th level in each class (I had my F/M/T on 40/40/40, soloing and with cheating that is and 120th level just seems a little bit too much doesn't it :D ). There are also plenty of new classes, NPCs, items, etc. so it's really worth the time to download it. It's a bit big though - 305MB.

There are also just rules for higher levels or XP cap removers to download if you are looking for something smaller.
