At least she didn't have an affair with someone you hate just to spite you.

Although both situations are pretty bad.

    Just move along, move along.

That's just me anyway, I am not very tolerant of affairs and cheating. If you have a commitment, follow through with it or end it, don't play both sides. That's just bad taste.

I don't think that your best friend is actually your best friend ... how long had he/she your best friend? If its been a short period maybe, he/she/it/thing used you as a tool or more to the point as a means to an end?

    But dude, i'm sorry ...

HAD an affair? When? A day ago, a few months ago, 13 years ago?

Hmm, I don't agree totally, of course you can and should talk much with your girlfriend, but for some talks, you really have to talk to someone of your own gender, for the other gender doesn't understand.

Success with the problems....At least still try to talk to them both... for it's not easy to find a new best friend.

    Well done.

It's hard not to cave in those situations and wish for things the way it used to be. Bravo.

    Jesper,
This is a difficult situation. Personally, I would never trust either of them again. Any woman who cheats on you is not worth your time and any "friend" that cheats with your girlfriend is not a friend.
If they wanted to get together, she should have broken up with you and he should have talked to you before pursuing her.

    Listen to BigB.

Hey Z, You are forgetting about the GUY!

I would think most of the pain would be the loss of a 14 yr. friendship. That guy is not much of a friend. Forget the girl, find a new friend. One who won't stab you in the back.

oh god, I remeber a situation like this back at IGN, and the typical response was "join them in a 3 way sexual marathone!".

I know what it feels like, Jes. Just let it go.

There will be other girls. The old friends... Those are harder to come by.

Ouch... that gotta hurt. I remember when a couple of years back i had this big crush on this cute guy in my school (In the time when about 5 people actually talked to me regularuily) and what happens? He starts going out with one of those 5 people. Figures...

Also, I used to once have a crush on this one guy... then he asked me if I wanted to date him. I told yes, but not even 48 hours later my current roommate and he were an item. Figures...

What am I complaining? They were both dorks... anyways, I am sorry for you for the loss of friendship... friends are important thing.

[IMG] what the hell is going on here?! jesper898: you've known your supposed 'best friend' since birth? (for clarification on what i'm talking about, read jesper898's profile!).

scarampella: the 'best friend' should've thought about his supposed bestfriendship before he decided to go for jesper's gal. he knew what the consequences of his actions would be before he did anything, so obviously he weighed it up and thought the girl was more valuble. what a bloody retard: friends first, unless you're certain that the girl will be the love of your life.

    the god:

exactly! Are we not agreeing here? The friend was a jerk for having done what he did. Being betrayed by your best friend of 14 yrs. has got to hurt more than being betrayed by your girlfriend right??? That was my point.

    [IMG] the god:

I don't know about you, but when I was 14, most of my friends and myself, didn't think about these things, especially in such depth. Ok there was the notable exception as always. But in general, I mean c'mon-you are 14, you are ALLOWED to be a dork and do things like that. Plus, there's this hormone thing, you know...Seriously, I doubt he 'weighted it up'. I think he (and she) just acted on impulse, 'heat of the moment', etc. Perfectly understandable, all things considered. I don't approve but I understand.
(Of course that doesn't mean I wouldn't be utterly loathsome towards both...)

Now, the BAD part is that, the above actually happens relatively frequently when you are past the blame-it-on-hormones age (i.e. > 20). And in that case, there are NO excuses.

I've done something like that, when i was quite old. I had a boyfriend. He send me away. His best friend was just waiting for me and he was so sure i loved him and not his friend (they thought to be "brothers") i couldn't explain that that wasn't the case. So he was my next boyfriend. Naturally i betrayed him with the first guy. And after that i ended up with both (crazy guys), nobody shed a single tear. That did no harm to their friendship. They always had the same girlfriends. If one of them ends up with a girl, the other one tries to catch the girl.
