If anyone else has previously started a thread like this, I apologize--been gone awhile...

Has anyone had this problem and if so, what have you done to get past it?

I suspect you might need all the patches for the game. You could also try and right click on the exe file, and try running it in XP compability mode. Worth a try.

NWN runs fine on both my vista computers. I don't know about the diamond edition though.

I had the same problem at first; once I updated the game and change the compability mode to XP I had no problems running the game.

I've heard there could be problems if you save it in a subdirectory of "program files" -- I saved mine in a different area (it think under my user name) and have had no problems.

Thanks all for your suggestions. But...

Running as admin doesn't work, neither does running in XP compatibility mode.

T2B, I'm going to try your suggestion and re-install outside of Program Files and see if that works.

Neverwinter Nights 1 Vista and 7 FIX

Had same problem . Heres what you need. Toke me six months to find it.

    1.69HotU update .exe

    From here

    http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Patch

    Theres three of them.

    Neverwinter Nights is for dah
With Hordes of the Underdark is for the Diamond Edition
With Shadows of Undrentide I don't know which verison

It's a loooooooooooooonge web page and you need to go to the bottom to get it. Install as admin. Enjoy.

If Mod here could upload them to this site And name them the vista and 7 fix from bioware. Sure make it easier for a lot of people . Since Dungon and Dragon Gamers come here first.

I had glitches with version 1.64 of the game, but it least it would run. 1.63 and below refused to work. When I patched it to 1.68 it worked fine. 1.69 is probably better these days.
    Also, my install defaulted to
    C:bad:NeverwinterNights\NWN
and I had instructions to use "run as administrator" from Bioware's site.
I've gotten the game to start without it, but sometimes the pictures on the save game files don't show up right if I don't use run as admin.

Also, and this is important: you need to set the program NWMAIN.EXE to run in XP (service pack 2) compatibility mode, not just NWLoader.exe.

In fact, you probably want to look in the directory and set EVERY .EXE file to XP compatibility mode.
Having them all "run as administrator" in the properties dialog ix probably a good idea as well.
