[IMG] ...the fight where Sarevok is being elected. My usual weapon, the Algernon's cloak, helps a ton but i just cant get past that part. I've actually gone so far as to try charming everyone and herding them into a corner so the doppelgangers cant attack them... but something always happens.

Has anyone soloed a thief past that part yet?

That fight is indeed very tough. The big problem is that you are a thief. For solo, the best thing to do is to Summon Monsters... but you cannot do that. You can also protect yourself with many potions.... but when the Grand Dukes fall, your task is failed. So you have to stay alive and also keep the Grand Dukes alive... I think this task is rather impossible.

My advice is to gather all NPC's you can find in BG.... Take them with you to the Palace... use Wand of Monster Summoning and kill the dopplegangers.. afterwards just go on with your thief only.

Isn't the wand of monster summoning restricted to mages only ? Anyway, have you tried to use a wand of sleep there ? I actually have never tried to *solo* that part of the game with a thief, so I can't give you further help, sorry :(

Must confess I found that part hard with a full party!

Keep us posted on how you get on, + strategy if you actually manage to do it solo. You would have many admirers I suspect.

I would normally suggest throwing a few of those exploding potions, but that would make the the guards and Dukes hostile...

Try using the Wand of Sleep since any class can use it. Also haste yourself with a potion...

Well looks like the only thing that can help you out will be potions, so try to get your hands on anything you can before you start this fight. Keep us informed.
