I'm not sure why I decided to go this way, but I've created a party which is designed to be sub-optimal.

    Asimaar Paladin/Painbearer
    Half-Orc Barbarian/Druid
Tiefling Ranger/Rogue (with Snake Blood; her name is 'Mae)
    Drow (female) Bard/Sorcerer/Cleric of Oghma

Now, except for the Drow's cleric of Oghma level, they're all keeping equal pace between their levels... the Asimaar is going into 3/3, the Half-orc is 3/3, the Tiefling is 3/3, and the Drow is 2/1/1 (the highest is sorcerer).

It's doing fairly well... they've got some good melee power, and plenty of buffs, but I'd never go HoF with them.

Good on ya for choosing something a bit odd. You should still be able to finish normal mode with these guys although the ability score strain must be huge on some of them (except maybe the Ranger / Rogue who is the most normal character).

The point is to have fun (I don't like HoF, too much powergaming involved).
This party looks quite nice: 4 characters are easier to manage. How many levels are you going to give them? The Barbarian/Druid can be really great, I really enjoy the Lorekeeper/Bard combination (makes sense RPwise).

I'm going to keep them more or less equal; the Paladin/Painbearer will be an X/X, the Ranger/Rogue will be an X/X, the Barbarian/Druid will be (X/X)+1. They're fairly conventional builds, all of them; the Paladin added 4 points each to Strength, Con, Wisdom, and Charisma, the Barbarian added 4 points to Strength and Con, and 8 to Wisdom (I think), and the Ranger/Rogue added 4 a piece to Strength, Dex, Con, and Wisdom. As a Tiefling, this means she's got an intelligence bonus, and is currently using Veira's Sorrow and a +3 Short Sword (Weapon Finesse was her 3rd level feat, naturally). I'm going into the goblin warrens with 2 people who can Cleave... and my barbarian has done 54 points of damage on a power-attacked critical.

The weirdest is the drow... 1 level of Lorekeeper, then averaging out Bard and Sorcerer. That gives her access to a huge amount of spells, via scrolls and learning. I maxxed out her Intelligence, put 7 points in Charisma, and 1 point in Wisdom, so she can cast 1st level Cleric spells (mostly Sanctuary, which usually gets converted to CLW).

They're working really well, actually. Having 2 tanks and a strong non-tanking fighter has made up for my drow being really weak in melee (on top of everything else, she's got a 8 Constitution). I almost breezed through the fight with Trugnuk, who's always given me trouble before... and this was with them summoning riders.
