    So what is the story with this sword? I read the info on it when I retrieved it and it says can cast Silence once per day. I have read a post that says it automatically silences opponents.

    Which is the true case?

    It does cast Silence Radius 15' 3 times per day, but enemies still make a saving throw. So it doesn't hurt to use greater malison in conjunction with it. Don't expect it to silence everybody.

    More often than not, your party members will be silence too, so just be careful. ;)
