Need major help with a big decision!

Discussion in 'BG2: Throne of Bhaal (Classic)' started by Parvini's Back!, Jun 30, 2002.

  1. [IMG] Parvini is back upon thine own forums. But hark since I have been gone I have been working my way through the original Baldur's Gate though I have not completed it yet (and I still have TotSC to do) my post concerns itself more with BG2 hence its presence hither:

My main PC is a Neutral Evil Cleric, but I created him with a view to dual to a mage at some point (consider I wish to take him right to the end of Throne of Bhaal). So far his stats are as follows:

    Strength: 16
    Dexterity: 16
    Constitution: 16
    Intellegence: 19
    Wisdom: 19
Charisma: 3 (I soon found out that this really costs you in the first game and thus Imoen must speak to everyone now, but there's that ring I seem to remember in SoA.)

Question is... do I still dual him or not? And if so when and to what type of Mage? (Since I am evil I will be taking Edwin.)

Your help will be much appreciated.

  2. I would advise to not Dual in BGI and if you are going to dual in BGII id wait till you have a few lvl7 Cleric Spells. Which isnt till you get to character lvl 14... Though.. at that lvl unless you have ToB installed you wont beable to regain your Cleric abilities.
Id like to hope you have ToB installed since you posted this in the ToB section..

Wopeee I got my old name back!

Dualling at level 14? Isn't that leaving it a bit late?

By the way if any one wants to help me feel free, my Cleric now has a Wisdom of 20.

  4. Lvl 14 isnt to late, unless your not wanting any 7th lvl Cleric spells.

at lvl14 with a 20 Wis you will ahve:
    9 lvl1 spells
    9 lvl2 spells
    7 lvl3 spells
    8 lvl4 spells
    3 lvl5 spells
    2 lvl6 spells and
    1 lvl7 spell

So suggest lvl14 if your wanting lvl7 spells because you dont get another lvl7 spell till lvl17.

Besides, you asked what I thought.

BTW to answer your question, you can only Dual to a regular mage, so no specialties.. and I dont think you can Dual to a Wildmage.

If I remember right, a wildmage is considered a specialist and, therefore, are not an option for dual/multi classing.

Yes DeBhaal but if I dualled at level 14 how long would he spend as a low level Mage? He does need to realistically regain his Cleric skills relatively quicky.

By the way I've just started Drulag's Tower and his Wisdom is now at 21. Does anyone know of another Intellegence Tome or a way to increase his intellegence permentently?

By the way could one of the modulator's please change the title of this thread to "Dualling a cleric to a mage" or something like that, the one I put sucks quite alot. Thanks.

  7. [IMG] Two ways to quickly regain your mage abilities:

    1)
For quests that you have to go back to someone and get a major amount of XP jsut for talking to them, dont go back to the person until you Dual to a mage.

    2)
Kick everyone out of your party, except the person your Romancing(if you are romncign anyone) and buy alot of scrolls. Write the scrolls to your mage book, and erase any psells in your Mage book if you have a double on scroll.

You gain alot of XP doing that.
If you Dual at lvl14 you only need to become a lvl15 mage.. that is 1,875,000XP needed, it doestn take that long to get that much XP.

There is one Int increasing Tome in BGI, though Im not sure on where it is.

You get an extra 3rd and 5th lvl spell for Wis21 just so you know ;)
